MR. CECIL D. LATHROP, Sup. Principal Going through high school is both an adventure and an achieve- ment. It requires the mastery of those things which the vast major- ity of people call the fundamen- A, As members of the graduating class of '56 you go into the world to take your places as citizens of a proud nation. You have received the best in- struction and training available. Upon your shoulders will fall the duties of citizenship. What you accomplish for yourselves and your country will depend upon each of you. It is not enough that you, as citizens of a freedom- loving coun- try, should protect just your own personal gains and libertiesg you must be strong and united to pro- mote peace and prosperity through- out the world. Your country's true strength lies in the character of her citizens. You, the citizens of to- morrow, must not betray the trust that has been invested in you. tals. But there are many other things which you must learn that are equally fundamental. These things include: Playing fairly and being a good sport. Knowing how and where to find facts you need to know whenyou need to know them. Being a good citizen of the place where you happen to be. Being self-reliant: as someone has said.
