School Board Has Another Busy Year' The School Board members are as follows: Front Row: Frank Nielson, Buford Floy, Roger Fekkers Ormal Pals Back Row Paul Kjar CSCCICCZIYD, Gary Schichtl, Dale Lage, Bud Nissen, Ralph Timm CPresidentJ The Board of Education, composed of seven citizens elected by the voters of the district, was entrusted with the responsibility of working for and with pro- fessional educators for the educational welfare of children. The board, organized and operated under the laws of Iowa, had its own rules and regulations, and the expressed will of the electorate. There are many ways to state the responsibilities or functions of school boards. In general, they are similar to the functions of the board of directors of a private corporation: to establish the organizational structure. In addition to the regular monthly meeting, the board members gave many hours to individual study and extra meetings on the local and state level in order to deal effectively with school matters. The only compensation for the time away from their personal lives was the knowledge of the important contributions they made to the community. This contribution merited the appreciation of the citizens of the community. m i n i S I' 1 said, when he wrote the following lines: 3 T i O F1 is The American poet Carl Sandburg said it as well as it has probably ever been Some sacred seed lurks in each human personality, no matter how lowly its arrival on earth.
