UIIBEIKHIIIJIIB Ullllfll tudent Council, composed of I6 elected mem- bers, the foreign exchange student, and two sponsors, Mr. Kilborne and Mr. Sizemore, govern our school. The student's welfare is their main interest. Each week a meeting is held at which different problems of the student body, and faculty, and the community are dis- cussed. These members of the Student Council have worked very hard to make Mesa High a better and outstanding school. Patiently they have listened to the complaints given to them and appreciated the few compliments which are given in return to them. The annual state convention was held in Yuma this year. Here our officers met with other students and dis- cussed different ideas and problems of their schools. S bln uadars he three student body officers-Dennis, Karen, and Joyce--have strived for better citizenship and have tried to promote democracy at Mesa High this year. They have been kept busy with their various duties. l They brought about a change in the constitution per- taining to the student body officers. With the increased enrollment, the duties of the secretary have become increasingly numerous. So they got the approval of the students to elect a fourth student body officer. Starting in 1960-ol, two secretaries-a recording secretary and a corresponding secretary--will be chosen by the stu- dent body. Once .each month they have faithfully attended the meeting of the Student Body Presidents and vice Presi- dents Association to discuss with the officers of other schools the problems of student government.
