tail '55 Stif- JE 4- Q' 'Q JOHN C. WHITE Principal S . . S if ' fl if g Wifi sv' He Poved Your Woy AS YOU LOOK BACK over your days at Mesa High you see a very vital figure-your principal, John C. White. Mr. White has added much to your enioyment and suc- cess as a student. Taking time out from his many duties and responsibilities, he was always willing to listen to your gripes and help solve your problems. As sponsor of the Student Council, he was always ready and willing to further promote your welfare. Remember the car cavalcade to Glendale for the Jack- rabbit-Cardinal game? This was iust one activity that Mr. White okayed to help boost your school's pep. Helping Mr. White was your assistant principal, Gavin Humphrey. Some of Mr. Humphrey's main duties were coordinating all special school services for you. Some examples of these services were student insur- ance and loans. He was also in charge of the gradua- tion, assemblies, and school traffic patrol. Mr. Humph- rey directed all student body and personnel activities, class and club parties, and last, but not least in the ca- pacity which you probably knew him best-director of the attendance department. Although Mr. Humphrey had many duties, he always took the time to sign per- mits, requisitions, or assist you in solving many of the problems you faced. Yes, here were two very important men in your high school career whom you will long remember. Mr. White, your principal, takes time out from his busy day to dictate a letter to his secretary, Mrs. Harris. Twelve

They Benelited You BEGINNING YOUR scrapbook is a well known friend of yours. He is Rulon T. Shepherd, the superintendent of the Mesa Public School system. Mr. Shepherd was always willing to help you with any of your problems, organizations, proiects, or any- thing you undertook to do. He played a big part in making your life at Mesa High a happy one. Backing Mr. Shepherd was your school board con- sisting of five members. They were Keith O. Lassen, J. J. Taylor, Walter W. Merrill, Dwight Patterson, and Otto Shill. These men had to cope with all your prob- lems. Each was working for your benefit. So, students of Mesa High, you can be proud of your superintendent and school board. RULON T. They Assisted You Q 2 OF COURSE you remember your counselors of the past X 1 year-Mr. Carl Heath and Miss Katherine Bowen. Both Mr. Heath and Miss Bowen added much to your school year 1955-56. The two counselors not only helped solve many of your problems but they also sponsored clubs and worked on many of your school activities. Miss Bowen had a very busy year helping your Girls' League Council. Don't think she didn't have fun during twirp week watching you girls take the mas- culine role. Do you remember how much she looked like a little girl with braids and her short skirt at the All Girls' Party? She had as much fun as you did after working so hard to make it a success. GAVIN HUMPHREY Assistant Principal You must have observed how hard Mr. Heath worked with the boys in Boys' League to make your WWW-w-,Ms-.M--M Christmas Formal something to remember. You also saw Mr. Heath helping out the boys of Key Club in their various proiects of service to the school, such as the painting of the trash cans in your school colors.
