'L . . . asdf . . . jklg . . . .lust see if I offer my services as a typist again . . A yearbook theme is something that coheres, flows and develops. Once it is found the temptation is to feel that the task is finished. A yearbook is not an esay task, for a great deal of planning goes into each page. Pictures must be taken, writing must be produced, and business matters must be handled with careg all these are fused into the pro- duction of this book. If our staff is to succeed, it must suffer, work, and then undergo the agony of time. If in future times this book brings enjoyment to you, if it renews memories, then we, the yearbook staff. will have succeeded in our task. I know it's a foolish question, Mr. Kendrick, but are you sure that's the proper way of doing it? i 1 1 I n E Appearing backward in this pic- ture, the Warrior staff is actu- ally looking forward to the fu- ture. ftx f' .-' Editor Ron McAllister takes time out from his busy deadline schedule to pray for a news flash. The purpose of the Warrior, the reason for its existence is Merrimack College. The members of the staff, through their own efforts, are afforded a valuable understanding of the Merrimack community as they probe, inquire and in- terpret the facts which make up the community's intricate workings. It is the aim of the staff to share the insights they have gained by this experience. By so doing, it is hoped, a more aware, more conscientious student body is de- veloped. But the progress of the student body, of the school itself, of anything is a result of social interaction. It is the Warrior staff and its ability to interact on all levels, both among others and among its own members, which is the real cause of the Warrior's success. l l fl7T'lTl'l'Tl I W , I hi ' an A-.af Xigfi: .,.- 'JI . 5 K .V , K .V , . .luv vv, ', V- ,' A , , .,1-1-I--33-x .,,,L...--1- ' -,Q . The forty staff members seek to bring on-campus students the best in educational programming, and to provide meal time music. WVMM -the different and desirable sound in collegiate radio. The year-old honorary radio fraternity, Iota Beta Sigma, selects its members from the station staff. MERRIMACK MGNITGRS The Merrimack Monitors, organized in 1963, has become the cohesive force behind WVMM. Among its activities, the Monitors plan the annual awards presentation and the trip to the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System's Con- vention held this spring at Rutgers University. The Monitors act as the social organ which provides the personnel for its service branch - WVMM. The Pace Society seeks to fulfill the college student's need for physical exercises. Included among its projects are such activities as canoe- ing, mountain climbing, swimming, skating, or just exploring new and exciting places. There is always some sporting adventure to keep the members on the go and physically fit. They're off . . . to Merrimack's own race track at the Andover Riding Academy. Here, expert instruction in English horsemanship, and crisp clear weather join together to stimu- late students sluggish from the long hours of studying. Some of the members take advantage of the lessons, while all enjoy the pleasure of the trail ride. Sf? The Ski Mers is an organization bring- ing together all those having an inter- est in winter skiing. The primary pur- pose of the club is to promote an active interest in this sport, and to provide opportunities for student participation. Among the activities carried on by the Ski Mers are ski trips to Vermont and New Hampshire, ski movies, ski in- structions on campus, and social affairs including skating parties and dances. The Sailing Club was established to provide enjoyment for its members as they learn the fundamentals of sailing. Each week the members may partici- pate in sailing activities conducted at the Tufts Yacht Club on the Mystic Lakes in Medford. After acquiring suf- ficient experience they may become members of the racing team and sail in the regattas held at various colleges throughout New England. The team's most loyal supporters exude spirit and enthusiasm. While inducing the Warriors to victory, the cheering squad, with unity and precision, rally both students and players. ACKNGWLEDGEMENTS It is easy for me to say thank you to everyone concerned with the produc- tion of this book. You and I know, however, that we got out of this endeavor exactly in proportion to the effort we made. To those who have done the best they could, no thanks will compare with their own personal satisfaction. To the few that did not do their best, my thanks will have an empty clang hardly compensating for the regret they feel. Our product now must undergo the acid test. It is in the hands of our critics. Their overall opinion will mark our overall success or lack of it. I would like to single out a few people, whom I feel deserve special thanks. Mr. Robert Kennedy and Mr. Albert Burns: Thank you for your sincere interest and patience. Look Photo: Thank you for your personal service and cooperation. Mr. john Ursprung: Thank you for keeping us on the straight path. The following members of the staff deserve special thanks: Patricia Kreut- ler, Patricia Roddy, Jack Kendrick, Terry Samway, Nancy Hill, Bill Marsden. Roberta Collins and Marilyn Ryan. Richard D.
