The engineer is today a most wanted man. Rapid scientific advancements, technical improvements, and mechanical inventions call for those with an exact training in the mathematical sciences. The engineer with his slide rule and transit is the symbol of Merrimack’s answer to this call. Established in 1951, the division of engineering provides courses leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in both civil and electrical engineering. But a Merrimack College graduate is not meant to be solely a technician. Philosophy, Religion, English, History, and Economics are considered integral parts of an engineer’s education. The result is a graduate highly trained in his own particular field yet imbued with the universal qualities of a Liberal Education. THOMAS A.
