Homecoming excitement The festivities for the 1979 Homecoming were officially underway as the parade started from Pierce Junior High School. The judging of the floats followed the pa- rade. The Senior Class won first place for their float, which was Miss Piggy. First place for the club floats was awarded to the Spanish Club, whose float was also Miss Piggy. Immediately following the judging of the floats, the Powder Puff teams took the field. Last year ' s champions, the Juniors, were defeated by the underrated Sophomores. The Seniors then defeated the Sophomores to become the champs of this year ' s Powder Puff Games. Ending the fes- tivities for this night was the long awaited Bon-Fire. HERE COMES MISS PIGGY-The Se- niors the honor of first place, nior Float, Miss Piggy gave the Se- Lynne Shearin tries to gain yardage for the Sophomores. and ends here!!! The 1979 annual Home- coming Dance which was vis- ited by Jim Henson ' s Mup- pets was the last activity scheduled for the hectic, ac- tivity-packed week. The dance was held in the Merrill- ville High School Cafeteria and the music was provided by L L Mobile Disco. Eden Capuli was this year ' s Home- coming Queen and George Bravos was awarded the honor of being Mr. Football. The 1979 Homecoming Court: Mich- elle Faire, Gloria Summers, Eden Ca- puli, Tina Wiggins, and Gail Callender. George Bravos was elected Mr. Football.
