The weekly job of stenciling for the MIRROR is done by Mary Kay Vance and Diane Lielzan. There will always be a deadline M eeting deadlines . . . selling subscriptions ■ . . planning lay-outs . . . dummying stories to be stenciled . . . the strains of having a weekly newspaper . . . thinking of a suitable headline . . . the satisfaction of seeing ones work in print . . . experimenting with cub reporters . . . writing effective feature stories . . . the MERRILLVUE and MIRROR staffs work industriously to provide the school with top- notch publications. Criticizing the final production of the paper is one of the many tasks required of Barb Wilson, Editor-in Chief and Ed Lans- down. Managing Editor. The newspaper staff adds the finishing touches to the paper by stapling.

Time and talent mean success in speech Using one of many swimming motions Alice McCorkle begins her dem- onstration speech. A free-siyle stroke is also explained by Alice. The agony of waiting for your number . . . “It’s all in the cards” . . . the horror of for- getting your speech . . . dragging fifty pounds of visual aids on the school bus . . . the sorrow of being two minutes short . . . being able to get up in front of your classmates without being nervous . . . reading inlerps from plays ... the long nights at the library preparing debate cards ... the thrill of placing at contest . . . the feeling of achievement after completing a good speech . . . public speaking plays an important role in the curriculum of a well- rounded student. Busy school week ends with pep session Through a vanguard of Pepleens, co-cap- tains Don McKeny and Mickey Gaboyan lead the ’ 67 fighting Pirates to their place of honor at the Homecoming pep session.
