Just four years have gone by since we were green freshmen. When we walked up and down the halls looking up at those lucky Sen- iors, we often wondered if we would ever make it. Our Freshman president was Bob Layman. That year our activity was a skating party. We then became Sophomores and re-elected Bob Layman President. We went to the Chicago Stadium to see the Globe Trotters play the Minneapolis Lakers. Oh yes, and then our Junior year. Our play, There ' s always a Murder was a tremendous success. The theme for our prom was Stairway to the Stars. Club 56 which was cabaret style was our Junior dance. Wenzel Wegman was our president. And then came the climax to our High School days here at Merrillville- - our Senior year. Yes, we finally made it! As Seniors we gave another play entitled The Whole Town ' s Talking. The long awaited shocking day--the arrival of our Senior pictures soon came. As Seniors we were led through the various events and activities by Fred Ogan our president. One of our proudest moments was when Carolyn Jenkins was crowned Merrillville High School ' s first Homecoming Queen by Mr. Football of 1955, Jim Powers. We would like to thank our sponsors for their patience and help during these past four years. Yes, time did fly, but now our long awaited graduation day has come ! 37 John Hartsock Joanne Wojohn BEST ALL AROUND 38 Dottie Stringham Bill Smith LIFE OF TH E PARTY Bruce McDowell Joanne FitzGerald MOST INTELLIGENT Bob Layman Jane Soohey BEST PERSONALITY f cc U yi4 ROW I: M.
