Warm thoughts come to mind when thinking of the past. For the seniors it is time for a painful parting as they go on to meet new faces in the real world. Remembrances of talking in the halls and juicy', pieces of gossip will always be with us. It's been a long road but it hasn't been lonely thanks to our friends. A. L,'- :'A . ii i , ' ' R X' Nik, The Sweetheart Court was very special this year. Everyone had great spirit. We had a Spirit Week which finished up the week with the assembly. The FHA worked very hard to put the assembly on and it showed. The decorations and the whole atmosphere was nice. The support and cooperation of the students helped to make the job a lot easier. Kim Weeda sang a solo Endless Lovew, also, Warren Byle and Marilu Cantu sang 6'Always',. Both songs were very good. Overall, everyone had alot of fun and the F.H.A. was congratulated on a great outcome. ' ll Admznzstratzon and Teachers Our Administration and Teachers have been a terrific help this year. They helped give the students opportuni- ties to achieve their goal for the year to make M.H.S. the School of Priden. Our staff also showed a lot of pride participating in the skit dur- ing homecoming week. They also led us in the food drive to feed people in need. Yesterday is gone but the memories will forever be a part of us and will never die. We will always hold on to the warm memories of victory and pride in ourselves and our friends. Always we will hold onto the warm memories of victory and our school pride. Always, we will remember Mr. Carter and His dedicated faculty that supported us through high school. But the class of '88 has themselves to congratu- late. We stand tall in our accomplishment. An through these halls forever will walk the dreams an memories of the class of ,88. . mg K ' f 8 . The Juniors have raised a bank account of over S2000 and their gaol was to make another S2000 before their senior year. The class has raised money from selling corn dogs, raffle tickets, World's Finest Chocolate Bars, doughnuts, candy canes, M 8a M's, and holding carwashes. A lot of work has been accomplished over the past few years because of a group of highly motivated students that used coopera- tion as their key. We have high goals and lots of cooperation from all class membersf, said Jennifer Dyck, Junior class Vice Presidentf'Each year we be- come more and more organized. We hope our class has made a mark as an active, outgoing class. 37 Webster Kurz Tricia Ladwig Tina Lane Gina Laraia Doug Lasher Barry Lawson Ryan Long Eric Martin Jody Martinson Dawn Massey John Mayshack Billy McMeekin Bryana Mumm Chad Newton Amy Nightingale Dina O'Hara Tina Orrino Jamie Ortiz Jesse Pagnossin Kathi Paxton Monte Payne Mike Pendleton Jamie Perez Melinda Peterson N!! Since the Sophomores have spent one year in High School they now know what Meridian High is about and why it is known as the School of Pride. The Sophomores know now that if most students thought lowly of Meridian, then the expecta- tions aren't going to be very high. Mark Rousculp explained ults a nice school for the peoples sake, even if it doesn't have all the classes I like. I still think its tops in the county. Lori Weir said Its okay. The faculty is very nice. The staff are always trying to help you with the support group. The Sophomores had Pride for their school this year be- cause they respected the staff, the school, and of course most of the upper classmen. They also had a good attitude this year, by putting up with the upper classmen, by taking part in sports, assemblies, and homecoming. That is why the Sopho mores like Meridian and, hopefully, in the future, will make it the best school in the county. at t ' it A X 1 fifff'flffi'l, sseest E - ae .. - - . ,ew --. , I A SQ ..L.. .QM ,... is sr. W t ,ag-suv Mtmmwagiig N- Freshman P.E. was a very grueling class. It was pretty weird passing a fresh- man in the hall and all you could smell was Ben-Gay or any other rubbing oint- ment they could find in the locker room. They were worked into the ground by three very dedicated teachersg Mr. Ames, Mr. Museatell, and last but not least Ms. Shupp. The normal workday for the freshman consisted of a series of jumping jacks, pushups, situps, more pushups, more jumping jacks, more pushups, squat thrusts, more pushups, and finally a cool down of a hundred windmills. The amount or type of exercises varied de- pending on what side of the bed the P.E. teachers got up on. After all the calisthenics and the run- ning, which took about 35 minutes- de- pending on how cooperative the group was, there was usually a soccer game or football and if they were really lucky maybe a game of floor hockey. Pain went hand in hand with fresh- man P.E. If they didn't get the definition of pain that first day, most of them got it figured out by about the first week. ,Mums wigs ,i.. 47 Fnesl-IME .......,- Steve Howard Jason Hubbard George Humphrey Danny Jordan Zach Joy Jeff Karber Scott Kelly Kenny Kinman Ernie Klander Carolyn Kurtz Micah Lagerway Jack Laidlaw Crystal Lasher John Leeman Brenda Love Leah Lukes Jason MacDonald Ty Matheson Melissa McMeekin Jeannette Moreau Chris Morris Mellisa Norsby Naomi Osburn Denise Owens Susie Pendleton Lia Perales Brandi Perard Joey Perez Michelle Perr Sandra Pike Tina Pike Heather Poyner Bryan Pritchett Eddie Pritchett Christine Rhodes Kevin Roy Renee Ruzicka Michelle Simmons Ted Shatwell Paul Sines Shawn Salstrom Amanda Sleight 48 X Rs 5 ea, j:.gg-Q is--fmt. The Frosh Had Spirit . . . Freshmen were found to be in a certain stage of growth - something like the l catapillar stage of a butterfly - bumping into things that were most obvious. Sometimes they even got in the way of a stampede of upperclassmen in a hurry to get out of class and left flatter than a pancake in the middle of the hall. Most of all, the Frosh tried to get with it on styles but instead they sometimes looked like nerds. They did seem to get a little braver at challenging the upperclassmen and began to fit into the crowd with their sunglasses at night and pom-poms to cheer our teams on to victory. You might say that they seem turned into something like a developing butterfly in the end. 49 Student Government ASB OFFICERS? When they were hot they easily hit into the teens, Shutouts often were no problem due to the out- standing outfield. With qualities like this it is no wonder our girls finished fourth in the league and made it to dis- trict. After throttling the other teams and putting them out of the game, our team was ready for semi-finals. They had to wait two extra days in Kennawick to play, because of bad weather. When the state finals came, our team made the D X school proud by coming in fourth. Sm 2 iim7 7zytQffX Qif Sports f . . . ...,. in , Q, ' in ik-SAV C' V: K' 1253.95 f-if?
