On its crest all happenings are carried toward eternity. Sometimes we are caught up and carried alongg some- times we merely watch the rolling stream. At given moments all travelers step ashore to look down the years to what has been. This year Meridian looks back in memory a hundred years to find a cross- roads in a wilderness. Now as we stand in our bend of the river and look back to our humble origin, we think of the slow, gentle patience of our stream and give thanks that Meridian's joumey has been good. Here on our pres- ent shoal we see a nearer view of progress and prosperity and feel every confidence that views around the further bends will be delightful to our eyes. Surely the events home by the river tomorrow will ultimately become events worthy of remembrance.
