The -IV 'A' volleyball team had a smashing season with 15 wins and 6 losses, a total of 21 games. Captains janet McCrorey and Gina Nachbar, both juniors, led the team through their easiest game, against Boise, and their har- dest game, against Nampa. Setting and hitting were among the team's best points. .IV 'B', an all-sophomore team, also had a good season. As a whole, thejV team showed good sports- manship and school pride. The Boys Varsity Cross Country Team, led by a strong overall group effort, took first place in all but one of their matches this year. They won the district title for the first time in 10 years. They also took part in the Gary Franklin Invitational in Eugene, Oregon. They were able to place third out of the 48 best high school Cross Country team in the entire Northwest, At the State Tour- nament in Moscow, they were narrowly edged by an outstanding Highland team for the State Championship. The girls teamg powered by many returning juniors and Seniors took second place in almost all of their matches. They took fourth at the Gary Franklin Invitational, and they narrowly lost the district race to Borah. At state they took third place behind Coeur d'alene and Borah, still managing to take one of the highest places ever for a Meridian Girls Team.
