From hard work, frustration, and near shock, the 1962 Mana - a Sa has been com- pleted for your benefit. We hope that for years to come, this book will bring back memories of your high school days; the games you attended, the teachers who taught you and disciplined you, the students who will be your life-long friends, the students whom you may never see again except in these pages, and the fun you received from all the activities that you took part in. To the Sophomores and the Juniors, your memories of events of this past year are here recorded, but to you Seniors, this book has a special and sincere meaning. It is the last of your high school annuals. Many of you wil l go on to college, many of you will work and progress, and many will be blessed in marriage, now or In later life. But whatever you do or whatever you become, your days at M.hH.S. can never be forgot- ten, and the 1962 Mana h a Sa will always be a reminder of those days. , ' -. ■The Editors A.yA ij v y . As -freshmen there were 143 of us. We were a little afraid of the upper classmen but that was natural. Bill Bienapfl was elected president for the year. We overcame this fright a little in our soph- omore year with the students from Eagle to help us. Royce Garner was elected to guide us through the year. In our junior year we were led by president Gary Bertsch. We chose Some Enchanted Eve- ning as the theme for the Junior-Senior Prom. Linda Crawford and Delbert Bain were crowned Cot- ton Swing Queen and King. At last we are Seniors! Our last year has been exciting and rewarding. Ann Fretwell was crowned tHomecoming Queen at the half time of the Payette game. We chose Winter Wonderland as the theme for the Christmas formal which was held at the Basque Center. Mary Sanchotena was queen of the F.F.A. Harvest Ball in November. Dick Teutsch and Genie Uthe vere crowned king and queen of the Cotton Swing . During the year we sponsored Twirp Week, with Gayla Fugal and Loren Ross as queen and king, and the Senior Assembly. As our motto we chose Not the top, but still climbing. Our colors are blue and silver. We the Seniors of 1962, will always look back on our years at M.hl.S. with fond memories. Not Pictured — Marilyn Jackson Our Hearts Were Young and Gay was chosen to be the school play for 1962. It is a lively comedy in three acts that continually throws out surprises and refreshing lines to the audience. The action of the play took place in the 20 ' s when hems were high and hopes were even higher. The two hero- ines, Cornelia Skinner and Emily Kimbrough, were bound for Europe to learn acting and dancing, re- spectively. Except for a few minor disasters (measles, bed bugs, and Emily ' s lively imagination) it ends happily with the characters getting exactly what they wanted. Members of the cast were: Rita Thorne, Bud Young, Bill Bienapfl, Johnny Van Dusen, Pam Nielsen, Vicki hiigginson, Karen Snow, Connie Scrivner, Diane Green, Chauncy Wurst, Walter Siemiller, Joe Proctor, Dorothy Merle, Vicki Welker, Play OUR HEARTS WERE YOUNG AND GAY Left to right— Bill Bienapfl, John Van Dusen, Vicki Higginson Rita Thorne, Bud Young, Pam Nielson.
