The object of the club is to create better fellow- ship among the boys of M.H.S. and the community. This organization shall be to promote those co- operative activities involving the boys of the school by which they may cultivate personal efficiency, competent leadership, social responsibility, through which they may express active loyalty to the high- est interests of the school. X' Club During the past year the M Club has been very active under the able advisor, Mr. Stenson. In co-operation with the visual-aid department this club has sponsored noon movies once a week during the winter weeks. The annual initiation was held in the fall with initiates coming to school dressed as girls. In the evening the initiation was completed with a closed ceremony called Hell Night. To become a member of M Club, one must earn a letter in a major sport according to the rules of the S.R.V. Conference. Future Homemakers The F.I-I.A. is a national organization in which teen-age girls learn the art of home- making. Some of the activities this year were: summer District Workshop, district meetings, and the Regional I convention. In October the new members were initiated. Also the Meridian othcers initiated the Eagle Chapter. Later they initiated Middleton's newly organized chapter and in- stalled their officers. In December the girls were hostesses at a pot-luck supper for Kuna, Eagle, and Middleton. Shirley W'alker and Emma Bedard worked for state degrees. At the district meeting, Charlotte Martell was elected vice-president and Ann Wilder was elected degree chairman. Emma Bedard was elected Region I president at the 1955 State Convention. The Style Show-Open House finished a wonderful year in May. Pep Club Me XV.x Pep Club has been one of the outstanding clubs of M.H.S. The purpose of the club is to promote school spirit and sportsmanship, and to be of service to the school and community. This is the Hfth year of this organization. Of the 200 mem- bers, 190 have been active in at least one of the ten tribes which were formed so that everyone would have a better oppor- tunity to participate in the club's activities. Some of the activities sponsored by Pep Club this year include: Homecoming, Style Show, Christmas Tea, Christmas Pageant, Childrenls Home Party, programs at Elks Rehabilitation Center, Boys' Night, Senior Banquet, Easter Pageant, school assemblies and concessions, and awarding of the one- hundred-dollar scholarship. The Mana Ha Sa staff has worked hard to try to equal the four all-state ratings from Pocatello and Mos- cow which have been earned during the past two years. Declamation Meridian students traveled to Vale, Oregon, to enter the annual S.R.V. Speech Clinic. Those earning superior ratings were: Judy Eames. after-dinner speakingg Bill Agee, original oratoryg and Saundra Boice, poetry reading. Excellent ratings were earned by jim Mummert, radio speakingg and the one-act play, directed by Miss Morgan and Nedra Larson. Good ratings were received by the speech choir, directed by Bill Ageeq Mary Jauregui, dramatic reading, Vir- ginia Rodgers, original essayg Charlotte Martell, extemporaneous speakingg and Dorothy Mitt- leider, panel discussion. Many of these same students will participate in the Third District Deelamation to be held at Payette early this spring. Debate Meridian High Sehool's clebaters took part in the College of Idaho Invitational Debate Tour- nament, the NVeber College Invitational Debate Tournament, and were the hosts to the Third District Debate Tournament. Chorus There were two choral groups at M.II.5. this year. girls' chorus and mixed chorus. They par- ticipated in the District Contest, Spring Concert, and the Snake River Valley Clinic. They were also featured in several assemblies throughout the year. Mr. Phil Peterson, a new faculty mem- ber. was the enthusiastic director. From the mixed chorus came a male quartet consisting of Gary Keyser, Gary Merrill. Ken Hughes. and Harold Hudson, which did an outstanding job. A sextet was formed from the girls' chorus and sang at various events. The men1b:rs of the sextet were Iaclsie Worthington, Carol Bedard, Janette Hoffman, Karen Henrichs, Donna XVood, and Pat Wfalker. When Mother is the imaginative Marian Burnett, played by Wanda McCormick, the answer is-pandemonium. Katy Burnett, Mary Jauregui, tries to convince her father that he would be the ideal man for governor. Christine Burnett, Sharon Noteboom, wants her father to remain the same peaceful college president.
