The activities of the club were very limited this year. We operated station KMHS on a part-time basis and started work toward the construction of an amateur radio station. If we have sufficient funds by next fall and if enough students have their licenses we hope to have an amateur station. The purpose of the Pow Wow Club is to pro- mote speech activities in Meridian High and to give its members practice in parliamentary pro- Cedures. The principal activities of the club this year have been participation in the Voice of Democracy contest, a Christmas assembly for the student body, ticket sales for the all-school play, and the spring speech festivals. Pow Wow Club and Thespian Troupe 875 to- gether produced three one-act plays in March. Meridian High School supported three different chorus groups this year, the girls' chorus, boys' chorus, and mixed chorus. They were featured in assemblies and several school functions besides participating in chorus clinics. The director, Mr. Johnston, was new to the school this year. Among other services for the choruses, he wrote a script for an operetta, Frontier Blues, which they presented. Piano accompanists were Caroline Downing, mixed chorus, Rogene Alger, boys, chorus, and Pat Nelson, girls' chorus. 57 Meridian H .Sf Band The Meridian High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Kenneth Crossman, was made up of sixty-nine members this year. These players will long remember their part in the home football games, the two B.J.C. football games, the Jamboree, the marching band contest, the Boise Fairyland Parade, the Christmas assembly, the P.T.A. Stunt Capades, the Farm Institute, the S.R.V. Clinic at Ontario, the district contest at Payette, and the brim-full closing months of the year. The basketball games, plays, operetta, and numerous assemblies took advantage of the services of the newly uniformed twenty-piece Pep Band to round out a full, enjoyable year.
