We the siatf of the 1988 Chief would like to dedicate this yearbook to Charles Brooks. His dedication to the music pro- gram is greatly appreciated by the students and the community. This outstanding de- dication is shown by the tremendous growth and interest in the school’s music program. AND ... TO THE CLASS OF 1948 we would like to say THANK YOU! for beginning a great tradition . . . THE CHIEF. Forty years ago, this class published the first annual of the Meredosia High School, and it has survived through maty changes—in the school, the town, and the world as well. Many of its members are still around Meredosia, some have moved, and a few have died. You may recognize some of the names for their accomplishments. Members of this graduating class, as pictured on their graduation composite picture hanging in the present high school, were: Hubert Alhorn, LaVerne Alhorn, Charles Arnold, James Boyd, Rowland Crum, Frances Floyd, Norma Floyd, Don Garrison, Betty Grammer, June Ham, Charlene Hammond, Bernita Hoff- meier, Virginia Mayes, Leland McAllister, Doris Ruyle, Gail Staake, Rose Ann Steinberg, Norma Jean Werries, and AnnaBelle Workman Chief Meredosia-Chambersburg High School Meredosia. If only I could hold on to it. Forever . . . and ever Reliving it and letting go of it, never. Thinking of the days Of this wonderful year. Trying toremember without a tear. Well, I can't make it stay With anything I might say, But the memories will carry on With me. 4 PRESENTING SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS SEC'RY.: Jennifer Campbell TREAS.: Scott Larimer PRESIDENT: Matt Wilhite V-PRES.: Julie Martin THE CLASS OF 1988!!! The class advisors for the class of 1988 were Mrs. Nancy Mitchell and Mr. Mike Gadberry. They worked hard in guiding the class in its growth in spirit, cooperation, and understanding. Those members who participated in all the class projects made a trip to California the weekend of May 5 to 8 due to their efforts; especially with the magazine sale. This large fund raiser was a great deal of work not only for the salesmen, but also for the cap- tains and sponsors who were responsible for tabulating the sales, correcting any errors, and coordinating their efforts with the sponsoring company. Not only did they show a cooperative effort in raising money, but also in the classroom and in their athletic endeavors. This was shown by the special recognitions received by: Lynette Bradley, Jon Buhlig, Dave Buhlig, Lori Dawson, Micheal Gerecke, Scott Larimer, Julie Martin, Matt Olson, and Matt Wilhite; with Julie, Scott, Matt Wilhite, and Lynette as members of the National Honor Society and Julie and Scott being recognized as Good Citizens by the DAR and SAR respectively. The entire affair is being catered by the world renown gourment of the ham- burger world — CHEF LYNETTE Bradley — with Mig Macs as big as compact discs, and shakes as large as half-size basketball nets. The music is to be supplied by the Tampa Fanatics led by SHAWN Boyd on the drums and SEAN Engelbrecht on lead guitar. Helping park cars is an eagle scout troup under the direction of philanthro- pist JEFF Beddingfield decked out in the badges he earned during his years of scouting. RODNEY Brown and MATT Wilhite, MD., PhD. arrive in the same limo dis- cussing the new trends in therapy and the medication used at Rod's clinic for cast-bound motorists and supplied by Matt. With them are MARY Dowson, currently the principal at MCHS, and her Business Department Head, LORI Dawson. Mary has been consulting with Matt about her prescription for more valium—much needed after the gruelling years trying to keep order in those hallowed halls. Lori took over after Mrs. Fuelling finally retired at 75. Rodney has also been busy helping MICHEAL Gerecke train for the Olympics and both are very excited about Mike having won a gold medal for the Decatholon in 2004. MATT Olson just rode in on his pinto. He is currently producing a sequal to LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE and contracted with JON Buhlig the famous designer and owner of the TWIG , a store for the tall and lanky, about costumes. Jon is also designing the clothes for JENNIFER Campbell's new film of the remake of the IRON EAGLE ... a choice she made after her years of service in the USAF. A loud noise can be heard over the hill and suddenly there appears a jet pow- ered IRIK driven by none other than Brad Parton looking none the worse after his crash with another Phantom. Right behind him is CRYSTAL Femmer, a world traveler and wife of a famous accountant whom she never leaves home without, and her interpreter, CONNIE Roberts. Connie had a great deal of practice interpreting in high school with trying to understand all of the different languages her fellow students spoke. JOHN Paul and SHON Surratt have been taking in all of the events and discuss- ing John's job as top illustrator for the NADWA NEWSLETTER. (National Association of Dragon Worshipers) and Shon's re-creation of Meredosia's landmarks on canvas for the H G Society at $200,000 each. We're all anxiously awaiting the arrival of JULIE Martin, who is personal secretary to President Elizabeth Dole, who along with the First Husband is to present the Congressional Medal of Honor to DAVID Buhlig. . . who knows what for, but it is an exciting moment for all just the see Mrs. Dole. After the presentation, the group continues to reminisce about the glorious days at MCHS—the wierd noises, scents, stacked lockers, various types of thera- puetic braces, casts, and bandages, and the friendships and ----- fights and the making up ---, getting caught by the teachers (not getting caught), and of course, GRADUATION. Mrs. Cleta TerHark, the English an Spanish teacher at MCHS for the past 18 years, went to Jacksonville High School at the beginning of the third quarter to teach Spanish full-time. Mrs. Ter- Hark majored in Spanish in col- lege and minored in English. She had longed to teach just Spanish for several years, and when the Spanish teacher at JHS had to move, she realized it may be her only chance to reach her goal. We. at MCHS, would like to wish Mrs. TerHark all the luck in the world at her new job. We will miss her, not only as a teacher, but also a« a friend Bits Pieces In a few weeks Mr. Wilson’s American History Class can look forward to having a guest speak- er.
