HELLO EVERYONE OUT THERE IN MEREDOSIA-LAND Here are your Star Reporters giving your the latest on the class of 1983 direct from Big A1 s , owned by A1 Gregory, managed by Roger Friestad, and operatic solos by Larry Ruyle. Many of the ’’Old Grads have changed, but most look the same—especially Kevin Allen, who still waits three months for haircuts--and now has added a full beard. It keeps him warm in the far north of Alaska where he lives with his trusty 12 Huskies and his Newsweek magazines. He still is prospecting. Kevin only gets south every 10 years, so hardly rec- ognized Mark Battefeld (clean shaven and sporting a bright new red Ferrari—or is that his old spotted grey with a new paint job?) -AND- you should see Troy Boblitt. He became so use to walking, he designed his own car—with feet. Did you ever see a Scream walking? Ed Beauchamp is on the farm trying to teach his prize hogs to make those long shots into baskets hanging around the hog lot. His team is one of the top shows travelling the country. Chris Berghaus, Ed’s press agent, transports the HOGS to all the games m his newly designed Hog Lot Heaven Heaven Wagon . It stears itself and stops automatically on hills. Rick Bradley and Doug Bradley have joined heads and opened a men’s hair shop featuring the latest styles as seen in Rick's book, Fast Women, Fast Cars, and Bad Jokes. Doug is the HIGH fashion consultant, and Rick is the PROMOTER. The former 1983 CHIEF editors, Ellen Duesterhaus and Kelly Smith were also at the re- union. Ellen is still going around with that smile on her face. (What is she up to anyway?) And Kelly? Well she is now COACH Kell to all her girls at the car wash. They really give a customer SUPER SERVICE. Women's. Lib at work! (Maybe that's what Ellen is smiling at.) Cindy Easley is way ahead of the rest of the group. She is a champion typist and runs her own insurance agency, typing policies at 1000 an hour. Hope Dunmire is her assistant (She learned by assisting Tammy)—and is still hopelessly devoted to her one love. Speaking of being devoted---Stephanie Campbell decided to carry on an old tradition and is raising three girls of her own----AND THEY ALL LOOK JUST LIKE HER BROTHERS!!! Bill Durham is the Morgan County Sheriff. After breaking his own record of receiving tickets, he decided enough was enough. He has one of his deputies drive him around and lets HIM get the tickets. Tracy Fanshier works for the county too—as Volunteer Fire Hydrant Inspector. He and his dogs inspect each and every one at least once a month. Hrve you ever tried to find clothes to harmonize with red hair? Just stroll on down to Robyn's Nest where you will find Robyn Farmer who specializes in this type clothing. All of the Monrells and Carmeans shop there—especially Danny Morrell who also works there as an entertainer, giving concerts on his bass during style shews. Since Pat Morrell doesn't have red hair, he designs wigs for those who believe that Red Heads have more fun. Pat always went for the tall thin ones, so all the wigs are very tall and thin. Senator David James, Doodles to his friends, is kept busy advising the government on the economic situation. His chief assistant is Ed Irving, who is still trying to keep up with Angie, but his pace must be at least three steps behind David, or he will lose his job. David is very strict about WHO IS BOSS. Many of those present have gone into business serving the public. Richie Ransom, for example, can help if your class ring gets bent out of shape. He will gladly reshape it with his car. Kim Olson and her sisters have opened a dry-cleaning establishment, and are really cleaning up. Wheeler Schmalshcf and Karen Simon have formed a partnership called Dates for the Late, and Shots for the Short. They specialize in finding dates for the proverbial late and short people of this world. Connie Werrier. is chief accountant for Rodney Sisk who has developed a new strain of lightening bugs. Connie has never made a mistake in Rodney's books even though he h s bugged her to tne extent that she has been tempted to take all of them and give thee to Kaye Surratt and Sandra Steck for their use when they have night practice for their volley bask team the SANDRAKAYES — nicknamed the Sandraclauses, because they know if you are bad or good, so be good for goodnesi’sake, or they will beat you,). We can't seem to find any other members of the class, so we will sa tarewel'. Throughout the week, each class competed for the traveling Spirit Trophy donated by the Ath- letic Boosters, receiving points for the highest percentage of class participation, class spirit shown at the bonfire, and for placing in the float competition. The Juniors won the trophy by a large margin. The Homecoming Football Game proved to be a succ- ess as the Indians overcame the Bluffs Blue- jays be a score of 21-0 The dance on Satur- day evenins? ended the week of celebration. Kaye Surratt, the 1982 Homecoming Queen, was crowned at the dance and the music for the evening was provided by SouthBound. The week offered excite- ment and memories for everyone.
