We the class of Nineteen Hundred Seventy respectfully dedicate our yearbook The Chief to Mr. Norman Deming, our class sponsor. His encouragement and never ending sacrifices have helped make our four years together very enjoyable. As we leave this portion of our life behind, his teachings, scholastic and otherwise, will remain with us. The seven seniors, however, will be sorely missed next year. 1969 saw Full-back Ron Summers selected to the Chicago Daily News Special Mention All-State team as well as being Most Valuable Player. Allen Chrisman, another senior, was voted Best Blocker. Ken Scott, also a senior, was Best Tackier, and David Hughes, a junior tackle was elected the Most Improved. Highlight of the year was the season ending victory over Virginia 60-24. Ron Summers, behind excellent block- ing by Chrisman, Gobel, Loewy, Little, Surratt, Hughes, and Griebler, scored 8 TD's to lead the victory. Junior Varsity 1st row: R. Umphryes, R. Barth, J.
