ANNA MAE HYATT Superintendent Secretary Principal World History Assistant Basketball Coach PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE By the time this appears in print you will be nearing the completion of another academic year and the seniors will be nearing graduation from our high school. This is the goal for which you have been striving the past twelve years. For some this will mark the completion of your formal education. Others will pursue the muse of learning for a number of years. As you will recall some of your former classmates did not complete high school. Aca- demic success, as we measure it, varies greatly with the individual. However all may become good community citizens, doing your share to make the democratic process work, regardless of academic success. In order to do your part to make democracy work and keep our country free from Communism you must participate in local, state, and national elections. You must formulate opinions and express them. You must develop deep and lasting convictions and be willing to defend carefully before you choose. Refrain from bigotry and prejudice. The world is before you. There are many opportunities still left. The world does not owe you anything. To it you owe everything. Go out and conquer. We will follow your careers with interest. C. H. S. Miss Schulte was the brave one who undertook the position of being our class sponsor. In 1959, we turned from green freshmen to silly sopho- mores which was quite a jump. We had twenty-six students and Miss Schulte was still going strong as our class spon- sor. We entered our Junior year very happy because this was the year we received our class rings and sponsored the Junior- Senior Prom. Our theme for the Prom was Under the Mag- nolias . Miss Schulte, after two years of constant agony, was still our class s.-xmsor, but wearily so. Well, here we are at last --Seniors! We have twenty mem- bers in our class and we are all looking forward to the Junior- Senior Prom and our class trip. Just guess who our class sponsor is? Yes, it is still Miss Schulte. Nr During the past two years that I have spent as Coach of the Meredosia-Chambersburg High School, success, as measured by the number of wins and losses, has not been abundant. However, the priviledge of .vond: ..ith boys that have a sincere desire to participate in sports, has been a rewarding experience for me. Likewise, it should be a proud feeling for everyone that the athletic program here in the High school, is no longer content to remain at status quo but is steadily moving in a forward direction- A successful season is made up of more than being on top when the final gun is sounded. Winning is im- portant, no one will deny this fact, but good sportsman- ship, teamwork, scholastic ability, and being a good representative of your school are likewise important attributes of a successful team. Although this year is not yet completed, we all are looking forward eagerly to next year with the sincere hope that we will again have a season to be justly proud to enter in the record books. The banquet was held in the Home Ec room. The meal . as prepared by the school cooks and served by the Junior and Senior mothers. The tables were attrac- tively decorated with candles, miniature swords and parasols, and nut cups which resembled bonnets and top hats. The Junior class president Lucy Copenhaver welcomed the guests and Senior class president Gary Rausch gave the response. Following the banquet, the dance was held in the gym which was decorated in a southern style with a southern mansion against one wall. White wrought iron furni- ture, magnolia trees, and an old-fashioned buggy further added to the atmosphere. Sassenberger's orchestra furnished music for dancing. Following the dance all night movies were shown and enjoyed (or slept through) by many. Breakfast of coffee and doughnuts was served at six a. m. to complete the fun.
