The sports outlook here at M.C.H.S. looks a lot brighter this year than it did last year. Our football season ended with three wins, four loses, and one tie. Although this record isn't too impressive it is a slight improvement over the last two years. We had a small squad of boys, but they had a lot of determination and team spirit. I think the football prospects for next year look good in that we will have several lettermen back. Lettermen who will be lost due to graduation are: Co-captians, Terry Steinberg and Darrel McDannold, Henry Pool, Richard Seymour, Archie Brant, and Jack Gregory. We are, at this writing, in the begin- ning of our basketball season. Our record to date is eight wins and one loss. We are fortunate in having our starting five back from last year plus some good substitutes. I am sure that we will improve last year's twelve wins and twelve losses record. Seniors on the squad are Terry Steinberg, Jack Gregory, Henry Pool, Darrell McDannold, and Ronnie Ellett. This brings us to spring sports. It is rather doubtful that we will have a track team. We usually enter into the conference meet but most of the boys concentrate on baseball. Again the prospects for baseball look bright in that we have a lot of regulars returning. If some of our underclassmen can come through, we should definitely be a threat to win the conference. Here's hoping that the year 1956-57 will live up to my expectations. The records which were established by the athletic teams at this school during the past year are goals for those in the future to strive toward. Many of these achieve- ments do not appear in any record book but are firmly established in the minds of many. They are records of all out effort, great desire, and determination of many to do their best at all times. It is evident that the varsity teams are only as the junior varsity team makes therr through the type of competition they give them day after day on the practice fields and courts. The junior varsity teams this yeai have been very dependable. If this year's fine attitude and spirit of competition carries over, Meredosia- Chambersburg will continue to have teams that will establish even greater records.
