C LASS A brisk, chilly wind stirs the leaves around the Meredosia-Chambersburg High School, Meredosia, Illinois, in the year 1960. There are few changes in the old building except for new lighting and clocks in every room. Near at hand stands a half-finished structure, which was started only recently. The big event taking place in the gaily decorated gym is a reunion of the Class of 1955. The first to enter is Betty Werries, dressed in her neat, tailored uniform. Upon graduating Betty joined the WAC and seems very happy in her chosen field. A bride of one year, the former Hazel Simmons, is escorted by her husband, Leland Hardwick. Before her marriage. Hazel was a fashion consultant in New Orleans. Leland is a lieutenant in the Air Force Cadets and is stationed in Texas. Home on furlough, this couple was indeed happy to come. Donald Nunn now writes articles on child psychology for the magazine, This Is Your Child . In his spare time he draws Larry Louse cartoons. Donnie informs us that Bob Gordley is unable to attend; he is in Alaska at the present time prospecting for uranium. As a side line Bob goes whaling off the coast. We always knew Bob has some adventure blood in him. The present owner of the St. Louis Cardinals is non, other than Jo Ann Hulett. As we all know the Cardinals are the winners of the 1960 World Series. Congratulations, Jo! ! Marilyn Roate is now personal secretary to that great novelist, Delbert Allen. At present she is typing the manuscript of his latest novel, Gone With The Gale , Delbert has now written four best sellers. Would you believe it? Dick Schuch, another member of the Class of 1955, is attending Pre-Medical School at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dick is studying to be a brain surgeon. Until recently Nadine Janes has been living in the South and has acquired quite a drawl. She has now moved her law practice to Salt Lake City, Utah Josephine Fuelling is manager of the Minnow Net Company, which manufactures invisible hair nets. Josephine tells us this business if you're working with anything or not. 16 is very interesting; you never quite know

We, the Senior Class of 1955, possessed with the knowledge we have gained during our past years here, do hereby state this to be our last will and testament, revoking all other wills and statements made by us heretofore. Article I To the Juniors we bequeath: 1. Our seats in history room with one square inch of uncarved space where they may put their own initials. 2. Our dignity and air of sophistication. 3. The special privileges Seniors are entitled to. Article II To the Sophomores, who will be next year's Juniors, we leave our advice, give a good Prom at any cost, make money for your Senior Trip early. Article III To the Freshmen we leave our blessings and wishes that they may get through high school with flying colors just as the Class of 1955 did. Article IV To the faculty, our beloved friends, we leave the following: 1. All our notebooks and reference books, our records in typing, shorthand, and in completing experiments in the lab. 2. Our records of perfect attendance and our A's in citizenship. Leland Hardwick wills his scientific ability to Glen Berghaus. Be erly Griffin wills her clarinet chair and music in band to Harriet Thompson. Donald Werries wills his long, sauntering strides to Judy Allen. Beverly Chapman wills her ability to get into trouble to Richard Seymour. Joel Dean McDannold wills his ability to get good pictures with the school camera to Rex Tracy. Nadine Janes wills her long brown tresses to Sharon Elben. Donnie Nunn wills his way with the girls to Smiley Ellett. Peggy Petri wills her good behavior to Joe McDaniel. Paul Kleinlein wills his tire tracks around the school house to Curtis Muntman. Marilyn Roate wills her experience and ability in running the memeograph to Marilyn Schneider. Delbert Allen wills his position behind home plate to Ed Scheer. Josephine Fuelling wills her fetching smile to Eleanor Beauchamp. Dick Schuch wills anything pertaining to school to anyone interested. Deloris Clark wills her Home Ec. experience, test papers, etc. to Donna Allen. Betty Werries wills her position on the steps with Paul to Derry Van Hyning and Lois Klopfer. Jo Ann Hulett wills her sports ability to Sue Grammar. Bob Gordley wills his four years of basketball experience to Mark Unland. Hazel Simmohs wills her naturally curly hair to Jug Little. Jim Baker isn't willing anything. He needs everything he has. Thus, we the Seniors, dispose of all our worldly possessions and say goodbye to underclassmen. W% hereby declare Mr. Chel Young as our trusted executor. To this noble and legal document we fix our sign and seal of the Class of 1955.

Another member of the class, Deloris Clark, is engaged to be married shortly, to you know who. She has been occupying her time as a lady wrestler. Her name? You guessed it. The Great Clark. Jim Baker gave the invocation at our banquet; for he is now an Evangelist. His plans are to set up a mission at Madagascar after his world-wide tour. His leading vocalist, Peggy Petri, was with him. Peggy pave up a wonderful career with The Metropolitan Opera to tour with Jim. In our midst is a manufacturer, Joel Dean McDannold. His Video-Phone factory is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Video-Phone permits viewing the person you are conversing with on the phone. Joel Dean has made over a half million dollars with this device. Quite an accomplishment! Beverly Chapman's first year as a primary teacher has just begun, and she really enjoys her work. Beverly attended Southern Illinois State Teachers College. While there, she satisfied a secret desire and is now a charming blond. A cute little redhead accompanies Donald Werries, he served two years in Uncle Sam's Army, and later decided to attend the University of Illinois. He is 6' 7 tall and is center and leading scorer of the basketball team. A sophomore, Don is majoring in Agriculture. Being engaged in a secret project is quite exciting, Paul Kleinlein tells us. He cannot tell us too much about his occupation as he is under the direction of the Atomic Power Com- mission. Paul resides in Paducah, Kentucky. Beverly Griffin has taken over her mother's restaurant and now has a chain of these restaurants throughout the United States with her headquarters in Meredosia. Her specialty is bean soup. I have to quit writing as it is time for refreshments. It has been fun talking with old friends. As everyone is departing I hear comments of a reunion in the future. 17
