HISTORY 1951 was the year of great historical events. That year was the dismissal of General Douglas MacArthur by President Truman, but also the invasion of Meredosia High School by the Senior Class of 1955. One bright sunny September day, we, the Senior Class of 1955, launched our attack by marching right up to the door of dear old Meredosia High. Once inside the door we spread out a and closed in on the faculty. Our ego was inflated until that fateful day we were confronted with freshmen initiation. After that hectic day we more or less settled down. We elected Nadine Janes as president. Hazel Simmons as vice president, Joel Dean McDannold as secretary-treasurer, Beverly Chapman as reporter, and Leland Hardwick and Jo Ann Hulett as Student Council Representatives. Mrs. Joy was selected as our sponsor. The n xt year, as sophomores, we were still climbing, a.'.a gaining ground. To lead us this year wc jlectec Leland Hardwick as president, Paul Kleinlein as vice president. Hazel Simmons as secretary-treasurer, Nadine Janes as reporter, and Bob Gordley and Donna Downey as Student Council Representatives. Again we had the guidance of Mrs. Joy. Our junior year was one of our busiest years. We had passed the half way mark and were still on our way up. This year we ordered our class rings, gave the Junior-Senior Prom at the Dunlap Hotel in Jacksonville. Also we selected Bob Gordley as president, Don Nunn as vice president, Peggy Petri as secretary-treasurer, Beverly Chapman as reporter, and Paul Kleinlein and Betty Gordley as Student Council Representatives. We were under the command of Mrs. Joy and Mrs. Jones. And now, we are at the top. Vie have finally conquered the barrier of learning. We are graduating! We published our annual, The Chief , under the supervision of Mr. Young, and gave our class play, Hillbilly Wedding , in the spring. Josephine Fuelling was chosen president, Don Werries, vice president, Marilyn Roate, secretary-treasurer, Beverly Griffin, reporter, and Paul Kleinlein and Betty Werries as Student Council Representatives. Mrs. Joy was again our sponsor. This is our happiest year. Finally after preparing for. twelve long years, we are going out into the world and apply what we have 'earned. It nas truly been a battle. Many have fallen along the way but we, the nineteen, who are left only hope to bring fame to Meredosia-Chambersburg High School. 14 I
