For our Freshman Class trip, we went to Lake Springfield. At the beginning of the Sophomore year, Jo Ann Beauchamp, Linda Ruyle, Ronnie Smith and Tommy Thurmon moved away making a new total of twenty. Later, there was one new student, Ronnie Kehl. For our Sophomore Class trip, we went to St. Louis. Our Junior year we lost Velma Battefeld, Doris Dunmire, Lawrence Gobbel and Barbara Hall. Unit 11 was formed of Chambersburg and Mere- dosia and the following students from Chambersburg enrolled: Harlan Chute, Gary Ham, Robert Six and Beulah Stambaugh. Later, Susie Sparks moved here from Jacksonville. For our Junior Class trip we went to St. Louis. We held our Prom at the Dunlap Hotel, May 15 with Bowen’s Orchestra furnishing the music. The theme of the Prom was “Good-Bye and Good Luck”. We were then left with seventeen students to begin the Senior year. Bonnie Ransom, Janet Welch, Loraine Nunn and Ronnie Kehl dropped out. Yvonne Floyd graduated at the end of the first semester, so we were left with sixteen students in the graduating class. For our class trip, we plan to go to Rockaway Beach, Missouri and spend four days. Mr. Young is chaperoning the group. Class Prophecy We climbed aboard our space ship, “The Planetoid” and cruised intoi outer space- Our first stop was Saturn, at the local Cowboy Hide-Away, where we found Sarah Snow formerly Sarah Barfield who is chief vocalist with the Saturn Plowboys- She is making $ 100,000 a week and her theme song is There Stands the Glass”- We then went to the planet’s Tabernacle, which has a seating capacity of 15,000- There we found our old friend Susie Sparks officiating at the ser- vice- She also doubles on the accordian and piano. The tabernacle is made of transparent glass and has velvet lined seats. We enjoyed the talk on “Heaven For Us”- We climbed in the Planetoid and cruised to Venus, where we got the biggest surprise of our lives- We found Mrs- Byron Ray McAllister, Sr., formerly Phyllis Muntman- They own a twenty-five room house and their triplets were chasing their mother around the bar- We dashed away in the Planetoid before they started chasing us- As we turned the corner in our specemobile, we noticed a building eight earth blocks long, called Leon's Sardines, Inc. Investigating further we found that it was our old classmate, Leon Ruyle. He is now operating the largest sardine cannery in outer space. We sailed on to Mars and being hungry we entered the “Terrace Room Night Club” and to our surprise found that Charles Tweedy, Esq- owned the beautiful night club- The headliner was Nancy Rose Lee, formerly Nancy Little- She was doing an old earth dance called the Hula- We picked up our belongings and climbed aboard the Planetoid” to head toward Jupiter. It was Sabado, Mayo 33- We sailed along at 800 M.P.H. and finally caught sight of Jupiter- We landed at the nearest Ski Club- To our surprise, out came Harlan Chute- We found that Harlan was the greatest ski instructor in the planet world- Among his famous invent- ions were power skis which have power steering and the newest automatic transmission. We again took to the air, but we were forced down by a spaceicane- We hitchhiked to the nearest city and being ready for excitement, we found an enormous erena- There we found Gary in the ring boxing the great Joe Palooka- It was a fifteen round bout- Gary had Palooka staggering and in the ninth round knocked him cold- With this victory Gary won the planet’s heavyweight championship. He is now starring in the “Great Gary Ham Story”. While in this city, we went to “The Silver Slipper Roller Rink”- The floor was two blocks long and two blocks wide- There behind the counter was our old pal Rosemary Newman, now Mrs- Don Stephenson. She told us that she owned the rink which had a restaurant and dance floor combined- She does a special skating act every evening- Pluto was our next destination. This time we set the automatic controls of the planetoid and went to our bedroom and rested till we reached the planet. When we landed t the space port, we found Delbert Fuelling acting as manager. Although he is now the millionaire owner of a chain space ports, he still likes to mingle with the help. We left Pluto and headed for Mercury. We were thirsty so we stopped at a place called ‘‘Thirst No More . When the waiter came, we discovered that he was Merlyn Smith with his hair dyed red. When he brought our order, he brought the owner, George Easley. We found that Merlyn had been married three times in the last year, but each wife had left him because he insisted on leaving his hair red. On Mercury it was legal to have more than one wife, so George has eight wives. George also owns a mansion for his wives. His first wife is a girl from earth, Peggy. The other seven are Mercurians. Our next stop was Neptune. W e were stricken with acute indigestion because of our friends different cooking. When we woke up, we were in Beulah’s Neptune Hospital. It was a beautiful hospital and had all of the luxuries such as television and swimming pools. Everything was push- button control. Beulah who is now Mrs. Paul Molgard is the head nurse and also the head surgical nurse. Beulah owns a space ship and travels all over the planets to supervise her hospitals. We recovered from the attack soon and decided to take a rest. We saw a sign advertising the L.J.S. Double Bar flench so we decided to give it a try A servant ushered us into a spacious ranch house and we found our lifelong pal, Linda Steinberg. Her house was circular and completely en- closed in glass. She doesn’t throw stones. We finished our rest and went on to Uranus. As we landed, we saw a stock car race in action. We stayed till the race was over and the winner was announced, we were pleasantly surprised to find Bob Sis the winner. For winning the race, Bob received a 10 foot memorial which was placed in the center of the race track. After the excitement of the race we decided to relax in a movie. The leading man was Wayne Peck, formerly Wayne Deppe of Meredosia. He was starring in “Three Girls and A Man”. Wayne was the box offices leading man with a salary to match- Last week, he had five new Cadillacs shipped from earth and he doesn’t even like cars. We have returned to earth and although our friends all seem to like the outer space, we find ourselves still attached to this little hunk of land and water called home- By Beulah Stambaugh and Linda Steinberg Class Will We, the Senior Class of 1V54 of the Meredosia Chambers- burg High School of Meredosia, County of Morgan, State of Illinois being of sound mind and memory do make, publish and declare this our Last Will and Testament hereby revoking and annulling any and all Will and Wills by us made heretofore. McDannold, Leon Ruyle, Ted Clark, Del- bert Fuelling, Archie Brant, Harlan Chute, Donald Nunn and Richard Seymour. The rules of eight-man football resemble eleven-man more than six-man. In eight-man you do not have to make a clear pass as you do in six-man. The ends and backs are the only ones who can receive a pass. You have to make only ten yards in four downs instead of fifteen yards. Eight-man football gives more boys a chance to play than does six-man football. This gives chance for experience with which to have a better team in the comi: We They We They Arenzville 0 25 Chapin 18 35 Routt 6 40 F ranklin 19 46 Virginia 0 35 Bluffs 6 41 Cha ndlerville 33 13 STEINBERG’S GARAGE Meredosia, Illinois BILL’S BARBER SHOP Meredosia, Illinois 30 ED SCHAEFFER Meredosia, Illinois D-X STATION Meredosia, Illinois Basketball ROW ONE: Allen, J., Pool, H., Tracy.
