Junior-Senior Prom A highlight of the 1951-1952 school year was the Junior-Senior prom. The affair was held May 9, 1952 at the Dunlap Hotel in Jacksonville. A banquet centered around breaded pork chops was served to Juniors, Seniors, their guests, faculty, ministers, and chaperones. The Seniors were honored with Bob Duvendack, Junior class president, acting as toastmaster. Senior class president, Tony Simon, gave the farewell. Sterling silver 53 or 54 pins were presented to Junior and Senior students. A dance immediately followed the banquet.

When we became up-and-coming Juniors in 1951 we found Donna Watkins and Bonita Lewis were not with us anymore. Donna moved and Bonita got in the way of Cupid’s arrow. During our Junior year we presented the play “Best Seller.” We were kept on our toes with the annual banquet and dance along with our studies. The theme for our banquet and dance was “Apple Blossom Time.” We received our class rings shortly before Christmas. Everyone was well pleased with them. Our Senior year twenty-three answered to the roll call. We found we had two new members in our class, Galen Pool and Marion Perry. In our Senior year we presented the play “Feudin Over Yonder” with every member of the class in it. The second semester of our last year at M. H. S. we found we had a new classmate, Gary Perry. We now had twenty-four members in our class. We went to Kirkwood Lodge for our Senior class trip. At the end of the school year we shall regret that it is our last year at M. H. S. and we will never forget the good time we had. 1

iii 5 Other than the Juniors and Seniors present were the faculty, their husbands and wives, Rev. Louis Rodenbeck, the Lutheran minister, and Rev. Guy Longenbaugh, the Methodist minister, Mr. and Mrs. Major and Mr. and Mrs. Lansing as chaperones, and the Junior Class advisor, Mr. Baulos. Couples danced from 9:00 to 12:00 to the music of Boots Brennan and his orchestra and vocalist. The theme, Apple Blossom Time, was predominant in the decorations and the program. The pictures were taken by Mr. Murray of Jacksonville. Everyone had an enjoyable time.
