4 11P:LENA ALLEN, instructor in plivsical education, is the motlier of one son and wife of Bill Allen who is a public accountant. She holds lur B.S.P.E. and M.Ed, degrees. Mrs. Allen enjoys gardening, fishing, swim- ming, and bridge. LIL. She has a new hol)l)y — photography — and first semester she made slides of all the elementary school student teachers and their children. She also enjoys traveling. EDWIN BL. ELLEN BHEWER, professor of home economics, holds lier A.B., B.S. and . -M. degrees: and has been teacli- ine at Mereditli since 1919. Two of lier interests are her work in the First Baptist Church and The Cedar Chest, her cabin on the outskirts of Raleigh, where she entertains. Faculty k E. F. CANADAY, professor of mathematics, was born on a farm in Missouri. He has earned his A.B., A.M., and Ph.D. degrees; and came to Meredith in 1920. Dr. Canaday lias two daughters and six grand- children. He is a member of the First Baptist Church and renders his serv- ices to the choir. P. A. CLINE, instructor in foreign languages, holds his A.B. and B.D. degrees. He served in the army from 191J-t5 during which time he was in Germany, France, and . ustrin. He is now organist at Hayes-Barton Methodist Church. BERNARD COCHRAN, assistant professor of religion, is serving his third year at Meredith. He has earned his A.B., B.D., Th.M.. and Ph.D. de- grees, the latter of which he received last vear from Duki- t ' nivcrsit.N . After receiving her B.S. and M.S. degrees she joined the Meredith faculty in 194.4. Mrs. Collins is interested in bridge, golf, and young people ' s work.
