We arrive We arrive at Meredith. We are fresh from high school, fresh in col- lege. We begin as Freshmen, and we grow into Sophomores, then Jun- iors, and finally Seniors. We are alone. For the first time we are thinking individually. We are encouraged to react individually. We are assuming responsibility indi- vidually. We are becoming ourselves. Four years we spend here — work- ing, studying, learning — mostly happy, sometimes sad. Four years of our life, dedicated to education but holding many other precious ac- complishments. Four years of our life, hard earned, but well spent. Every minute event begun in the formative years has become the soul and substance of our Meredith and of each student.

FRESHMEN — CLASS OF 1965 Penney Donna Dull President Sue Johnson Vice-President Anne Pepper Poole Secretary Lura Penney Treasurer Distracted mothers, weary fathers, and we, the bewildered daughters with quiver- ing smiles glued on our faces, unloaded the mountainous piles of trunks, lamps and shoe boxes from our cars on that September day. Having met our roommates and suitemates, we decorated rooms and uttered final brave good-byes to our parents. On the guided tour of the campus after the get-acquainted picnic on the first night, we learned various information about our new home ( such as the story of Wilbur ' s tunnel), then returned to our rooms with hordes of new friends to talk about college life. As the days flew by, memories rapidly accumulated. Could we ever forget Rush Week and Decision Day, Zeke and Almiry in Corn Huskin ' , our pet shop with its last minute changes for Stunt, the revenge on the Seniors, and countless hours spent in the library? Hall parties before holidays, dorm card mistakes, term papers, unnecessary trips to Ridgewood, and themes, themes, and more themes, fraternity parties. . . . ■n;
