Secretary Treasti rcr AS THE TIME for graduation draws nearer and nearer, the class of ' -15 begins to reminisce and the vision of that hot September day when they first came to Meredith flits across their mind. A place that was strange and new, and faces that were even more foreign, were soon to become very much a part of them. After being thoroughh ' oriented, these freslimen settled down, only to be caught in the throes of a two week ' s quarantine. For Palio (their first), they put their heads together and came out with the winning idea — Big and Little Sisters. The hayride and old fashioned square dance at the freshman party will long be remembered. These fresh- men were good at playing basketball, too, for they came out victorious. Their sopho- more year they were the basketball champions. The main events were the party and making the daisy chain. Realizing that they had become an integral part of Meredith, these girls, now juniors, accepted their responsibilities with zest and de- termination. They have proved themselves worthy of the trust given them. The Junior-Senior was quite a banquet, but the most exciting event was the finding of the crook for the first time in five years. Now they are seniors, and to make a wonderful start for their last year they established a first by winning both Palio and Stunt. They are anticipating with mixed feelings the clima.x of their college career — graduation. 17 1945 Oak Leaves Janie Sue Allen Cherryville, N. C. Alma Mater, we salute thee with a song: At thy feet our loyal liearts their tribute lay ; We had waited for thy coming, in the darkness waited long. Ere the morning star proclaimed thy natal day. Thou hast come through tribulation, and thy robe is clean and «hitc ! Thou art fairer than the sunmier in its bloom. Thou art born unto a kingdom, and thy crown is all of light ; Thou shalt smile away the shadow and the gloom. In thy path the fields shall blossom and the desert shall rejoice. In the wilderness a living fountain spring; For the blind shall sec thy beauty and the deaf shall hear thy voice, And the silent tongues their high hosannas sing. Where the rhododendron blushes on the burly mountain ' s breast, In the midland where the wild deer love to roam, Where the water lily slumbers while the cypress guards its rest, Lo ! thy suiuiy land of promise and tin ' home.
