FORE ORD Every thing that is beautiful rnust have its beginning in a drearn, which then becornes a thought, and, after that, a prayer, long before it grows into a fact to be clothed in flesh, or stone, or silver. The dream, alone, rernains as God has given it. 'The fnished tapestry is an irnitation of the sublime vision which inspired itj and where the thought is pure enough, and the prayer hurnble enough, there are few imperfections in the work. God gave a drearn to the Sisters of MEVLQI. Theirs was a glorious drearn that soon grew into a thought and deepened into prayer. The Sisters built splendid Gothic towers of brick and stone, and set the structure high on a hill where all the winds of Heaven could blow upon it. They called their drearn Mercpfhurst. It is the house of a dreani that will never be endedj for the Sisters have builded, not onbf with bricks and stone, but with kindness and gentleness, grace and courtesy, with wisdonz and with love. And their dreani lives in the life of each one of you who walks these halls. Mercyhurst has given you her vision of perfection, has trained your thought,-has deepened your spirituality In you the drearn has been translated into terrns of life, into the reality of beautiful Christian wornanhood.
