ALECIA LYNNE MASON When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest! If you must-but never quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When he might have won if he'd stuck it outg Stick to your task though the pace seems slow- You may succeed with one more blow. Success is failure turned inside out- The silver tint of the clouds of doubt- And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afarg Stick to the fight when you're hardest hit It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit 'frrmf , ' :,-,- rw - it STEPHANIE ANNE MORGAN COMES THE DAWN After awhile you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, and you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security. And you begin to understand that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises. And you begin to accept your defeats with your head held high and your eyes open, with the grace of a woman not the grief of a child. You learn to build your roads on today be- cause tomorrowls ground is too uncertaing for plans and future have a way of falling down in mid-flight. After awhile you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much, so you plant your garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flow- ers.
