Then can I grieve at grievances fore-gone, And heavily from woe to woe tell o'er. The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan, Which I now pay, as if not paid before: But if the while I think on thee, dear friend All losses are restor'd, and sorrows end. - - -William Shakespeare 2 GHCOL 0418 4 ARLOK 6 0,6 -1 I fa N- 3 i 10 xeq- Z '97, PQQNQV C Q, THE I962 MERCILITE How hard it is at the close of all we have shared to say, this is the end. We have shared the ioys, the tears, the hopes, the dreams of each other for three years. Years filled with many, many things. Now, our training at an end we must say, it is done. It is finished. We shall go our separate ways. Yet, we know, what we have shared will never be really lost. It will remain with us forever as we go our own ways. The many things we've shared will bind us one to another throughout the coming years and each of us will set aside a part of her heart for our Mercy years. 4 DEDICATION For his willingness to give of his time and energyg For his kindness to each one of usg For his patience while we learnedg For his understanding whenever we asked questionsg For his simple humility when he calls himself a little doctor g For his typification of the qualities of a true physician and gentlemang We, the Senior Class of 1962, dedicate this annual to Dr. George Page. 5 T0 A FRIEND You entered my life in a casual way, And saw at a glance what I needed, There were others who passed me or met me each day But never a one of them heeded. Perhaps you were thinking of other folks more, Or chance simply seemed to decree itg Iknow there were many such chances before, But the others---well they didn't see it. You said just the thing that I wished you would say, And you made me believe you meant it, I held up my head in the old gallant way, And resolved you should never repent it. There are times when encouragement means such a lot, And a word is enough to convey itg There were others who could have, as easy as not-- - But, just the same they didn't say it. There may have been someone who could have done more To help me along, though I doubt it, What I needed was cheering, and always before They had let me plod onward without it. You helped to refashion the dream of my heart, And made me turn eagerly to itg There were others who might have KI question that partl But after all they didn't do it. Grace S . LIBRARY 39 CLASS PROPHECY The sands of time have run a course of ten years since graduation day Aug. 4, 1962. Due to the pressures of a growing family, Hope Yost has resigned her post as night supervisor to spend full time as peacemaker for her 11 kids. Congratulations to Sr. M. Camillus who has been made an honorary cheerleader at Catholic U., where she is taking post graduate courses in Pediatric Nursing. Let's extend best wishes to Miss J. Jones, who is the new Directress of Nursing Education. We hear her policies are novel and unusually different from those of her predecessors. Our new textbook of Medical-Surgical Nursing was written by the for-mer Miss A. Nolan who currently is clinical instructor in Urology at John Hopkins. Miss L. Jernigan, the new Directress of Extra-Curricular Activities at Belmont Abby seems to be happy in her work, even though she is snowed under with activities. Dot Worrell and Susie Gilley are wildly occupied with their 500 bed all male hospital. From what they say, Mercy was never like this. In midwifery we find the former Jane Hursey astride her trusty horse, roaming the hills of Kentucky carrying Sr. M. Evangelist messages of prenatal care to the women of Kentucky. We spied the former Misses Fla Pace and Linda Murphy at the Indi- anapolis 500 where their husbands cheered them to victory. The former Nancys, Adair and Farmer, are stationed with their officer husbands on the isle of Hawaii. Reports from our fiftieth state show a fantastic increase in the number of very short children. Suzanne Austell really struck it rich when she married Dr. Ben Casey and is busily engaged in volunteer work when not caring for her growing family. Jane Watson we hear has just been made the first Air Force nurse with the rank of one star general. We barely recognized Margaret Sheedy who is now 6 feet 8 inches tall. She found and patented a new growth pill which as you can see is tremen- dously successful. Roxie Armstrong is the speech therapist for members of the peace corps, who came back from foreign duty unable to pronounce simple American words such as pencil and pickle . The former Janet Eldredge and her Dr. husband are working with missionary zeal in darkest Tanganyika bringing, not only the gift of modern medicine, but real Boston baked beans, brownbread, and fried clams, too. Can you imagine Janet speaking Tanganyikan with a Boston, North Georgia accent. Barbara Martin and spouse have recently made headlines by giving birth to a3 foot, 4 inch long baby boy. We understand little Joe weighed in at 28 lbs. Last, but most assuredly not least is Lynda Lee who is the personal scrub nurse of the surgical team which took out athyroid gland, an appendix, some nodes and no end of moles from the class of 62 . 40 .l JU IOR OFFICERS President .....
