We have in these few pages tried to capture some parts of the joy and satisfaction which has come to us in these past three years. To us, nursing is the giving of ourselves for the benefit of others. Through it, we experience joys and disappointments, trials and hardships, which cement the paths of perfection toward which we strive. We learn the practice of self-control, self-denial, and perseverance. May this book serve as a reminder of the freindships we have acquired, the lessons we have learned, and the love we have for Mercy. For it will be upon this reflection that each of us looking through the pages of the MERCILITE in years to come will smile and say, It's only the good times I remember... S - r 1, Ns, P , . We were in Wilmington for the weekend and had lunch with Mania Swartz, who is now the mother of quadruplets. She gave us the low- down on all the other girls in our class. Nancy Scruggs is still going to school, she has her B.S., M.S., Phd. and is still working on her R.N. Linda Baker and Anne Armstrong, Eastern Airline Flight Nurses, are still giving out Dramamine, mostly to themselves. Viviane Kelley, Loy Alexander, Anne Mueller, and Judy Williams are living in the Grand Bahamas modeling uniforms, their new movie, We Worked in White is soon to be released. Judy Bradsher and Judy Verneilson have opened a nursery. It's for mothers who go to school. g Bert Loeper who re-enlisted as a medic in the Army is the only medic having a private nurse, Ev Loeper. Janet Hoffman is an Anatomy instructor at the University of Florida. Vicki Martinez is an undercover nurse on the front in Cuba. Betty Lou Rice and Judy Hahn are missionaries in the Congo-- We hear the natives are restless tonight. Vivian Joseph has just opened a new hospital in Lebanon. Susan Kolodney has brought poetry to nursing with her book entitled Ode to a Student Nurse . Mary Anne Blanton and Kathryn Galligan and Janet Snuggs, working hard in research for the last few years, came up with a no-cancer cig- arette, it's all filter. Just the other day we received free passes on the Seaboard Railroad from Sheila Sikes, the only train nurse in the world. Naturally you see Carolyn Renfroe has been appointed Health Nurse at Mercy Nurses Home. Cam Yelton and Liz Frances have joined the Foreign Legion and were last seen on their way to the Cas Bar. Well, it's time for us to go back on duty, as you can see we are working at Paradise Island Marine Base Hospital. Bye, bye for now, Katherine Harriss Judy Jones 50 75 f?f9ef er 14' Mrs. H.
