nn-,. CIIISS HlSllllll In the historical year of 1947, a small group of girls, 13 in all, entered the welcoming doors of the Mercy Nurses Home. These intellectual 'Eienstiens' had just Hnished 12 long years of schooling, and to their knowledge had learned just about all there was to know, at least they thought so! UD Well, the weeks slipped slowly by-each day bringing a new lesson. Can't you just see Sister Assumpta giving Miss Chase a bath? Now that's a lesson we all learned at one time or another. But with their lessons and work came lots of fun and good times. Remember the initiation party when Nita, Gwen, Betty, and 'Beji' came up and found, of all things, cornflaker in their beds! And the day Sister Fidelis tried saying Miss Fowler and it came out Miss Flora ? She still can't say Fowler. Whee, it was just about time to go on the halls. Were we ever scared? Our knees trembled when we even thought about it. The first day on the halls-OH, Mickey, you didn't drop the alcohol bottle, did you? Well . . . ? But we got used to the halls and the halls got used to us, everything became peaceful and serene. Months seemed like years and after a short eternity june rolled around bringing us a reward for our struggles-UCAPPING DAY. We were very proud that day. Proud to know that we had passed with flying colors. We now had our little white caps and we felt for awhile fat least 2 hoursj like full-fledged nurses. For we were to learn as time went on that nobody is the genius he thinks he is, especially a medical genius. 'ff 'Hx-sa! linger liwhile Carolyn Brookshire Gwen Edwards Gladys Armstrong Sister M.
