POURTEEN CLUB O'DOnne1l, l. Hulse, Callahan, Bcrlkenbush, F. Hulse, Money . .xdf mercy Two clubs which concentrate their on aiding people outside the walls of High are the Fourteen Club and the Club. The Fourteen Club, which is first year, derives its name from the efforts Mercy Stamp in its seven spiritual and seven corporal works of mercy. Members practice works of mercy by cloth- ing the naked, feeding the hungry, and visit- STAMP CLUB Hoerchler, Iohnson, Brose, Lauterwasser, Getz, Graeser ing the sick and lonely. The main activity of the Stamp Club is the collecting and sorting of canceled stamps. Money received from the sale of stamps is sent to foreign missions to help clothe, feed, shelter, and supply medicines for Christ's needy ones in foreign lands.

f7l.e Ciiflwdc lll The spiritual life of the student body of Mercy High School is exemplified by devotion to the Sacred Heart of lesus and to Our Blessed Lady. The primary purpose of the Sacred Heart Club is to spread devotion to the Sacred Heart of lesus by making the first Fridays and by consecrating individuals and homes to the Sacred LEGION OF MARY Saffa, Musler, Kessels, Maassen, Thompson. Barbieri, Bommarito, Hastings, Hoerchler Heart. While this club promotes devo- tion to Our Lord, the Legion of Mary devotes itself to the Mother of God. The purpose of this club is to bring souls to Christ through His Mother by helping in orphanages and hospitals, and by teaching catechism to those who are deprived of a Catholic edu- cation. Membership in the Young Christian Students organization is characterized SACRED HEART CLUB Dunman, Scheulen, Eckstein, Balkenbush, Filla by zeal, apostolic-mindedness, and an awareness of a students role as a member of Christ's Mystical Body. At each meeting, members discuss with their moderator teen-age problems and interests. By putting into practice the results of these discussions, and by encouraging other students to do so, the members endeavor to make the atmosphere of school life happier by making it more Christian. Witte Seated: Harbur, Sheerin McDonnell, Wood, Warmbold, O'l-lara, Brinker, Stoops, Barbieri, Eckstein, Keeney Mercy's hospitality marked the opening of another year ot competition in general speak- ing and debate for the Catholic lnterscholastlc Speech League. Additional taculty instructors enabled more students to receive a better training through this club, which strives to inculcate in its members a spirit ot confidence in the expression ot Catholic ideals. The acting area ot the Mercy Thespians had to be doubled following its dramatically graceful initiation last November. The follow- ing month opened the curtains on a talent show. An out-of-town convention in Chicago and a theater party rounded out the year's activities. The grand finale ot the Knights of Demosthenes was its annual original musical comedy entitled, Backstage On Broadway.
