CC we Kurioua auage v With curiosity we approached and with joyful satisfaction we departed. We refer to the nights of February 8, 9, and l6, when the senior class and Channel MHS presented the warm-hearted and delightful com- edy, The Curious Savage, which more than satisfied the curiosity of the eager audience while providing skillful and talented entertainment. Eleven talented Mercian Thes- pians under the skilled direction of the Reverend Raymond Rustige pre- sented the appealing argument that love and understanding are far more valuable than stocks or bonds. By setting his gentile satire against the background of a sanitarium for eccentric people, Iohn Patrick drew some delightful and sharp contrasts between the supposed in- mates with their ideal world of kind- ness and understanding and the money-seeking relatives of the lead- ing character with their sane world of greed and mistrust. The author touchingly concludes that while the make-believe world offers warmth and understanding, it is not the solution: but, rather, his heroine should go forth once more and try to bring a little of this atmosphere into life and make the outside world a little better place. Pathos, humor and a rich under- standing of human nature were the satisfying ingredients of this senior production. Top rate acting from one and all, directing and technical support along with enthusiastic stu- dent support resulted in this being one of the most memorable high- lights of our senior year.

Let us set the scene for the entrance ot our Senior Queens, prominent in two momem- tous events of this year. As May is the month dedicated to Mary, the student body venerated the Queen ot heaven and earth at a May Day Coronation ceremony. Qur own May Queen, Maryann Bommarito, was elected to place the wreath on the tlower-bedecked statue ot Qur Lady. The Rosary was recited as members of the court, consisting of Student Council represen- tatives and senior members of the Legion ot Mary, entered. Following the crowning, an Act ot Consecration to our Mother of Mercy was renewed. Hymns to our Blessed Mother provided a titting conclusion to the ceremony. Premiering this year, a Senior Queen reigned over the Iunior-Senior Prom. Five girls, nom- inated trom the senior class, composed the court. A queen was elected by the vote ot those couples attending the dance. The Auditorium, enveloped in a blue mist, lent itself well to the Prom theme Rhapsody in Blue.
