CC lbw, we Sniord, IOQCLL . . .v December l3 was a historic day in our memories of high school, for on that day we received the sym- bol which distinguished us from all other students-four senior ring. Channel MHS followed us all day, recording the Mass at Christ the King Churchy the breakfast served by members of the Mercy Mothers' Club: the ring ceremony: and the inspirational talks by Father Holland and Sister Mary Barbara on our responsibilities to God, to man, and to ourselves. Though Channel MHS recorded current events, it could not record those events which we remember as important during our four years --some are big, some are small, some are tangible, some are intan- gibleg but to us they are all impor- tant: . . . the football field, which added the finishing touch to our sports program, was dedicated during our freshman year . . . the Thespian ability of our class when as sophomores they had leading roles in the 1956 K.0.D. Play . . . the sportsmanship and spirit displayed as either par- ticipants in the game itself or as spectators . . . the building of new classrooms and rooms especially designed for the Mu- sic Department during 1957. .. the crowning of the first Iunior- Senior Prom queen on April 25 . . . and, another first, the most important first, the opportunity of receiving Holy Communion each day before lunch . . . and finally, the scholastic achieve- ment of some of our classmates who received scholarships. We have received much from Mercy High School, not all of which can be expressed in words or ever repaid, we can, however, and do, express our gratitude to God and His Sweet Mother for all the graces they have made available to us during our years at Mercy. May the patroness of our school, Our Lady of Mercy, bless the members of the faculty who have so gen- erously contributed to our intellec- tual, spiritual, moral, physical, and social formation. Mercy High, we'll miss you!

Let us set the scene for the entrance ot our Senior Queens, prominent in two momem- tous events of this year. As May is the month dedicated to Mary, the student body venerated the Queen ot heaven and earth at a May Day Coronation ceremony. Qur own May Queen, Maryann Bommarito, was elected to place the wreath on the tlower-bedecked statue ot Qur Lady. The Rosary was recited as members of the court, consisting of Student Council represen- tatives and senior members of the Legion ot Mary, entered. Following the crowning, an Act ot Consecration to our Mother of Mercy was renewed. Hymns to our Blessed Mother provided a titting conclusion to the ceremony. Premiering this year, a Senior Queen reigned over the Iunior-Senior Prom. Five girls, nom- inated trom the senior class, composed the court. A queen was elected by the vote ot those couples attending the dance. The Auditorium, enveloped in a blue mist, lent itself well to the Prom theme Rhapsody in Blue.
