Meyers The Student Council directs many religious, cultural, and social programs on Channel MHS. This organization is composed of four senior officers, and representatives from the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior home- rooms who proved their ability by ruling Uni- versity City on Government Day. The first in the 1957-58 series of religious programs was the October outdoor Living Rosary. The religious highlight of the year was the crowning of Our Blessed Mother by the May Queen. A first in this year's pro- gram was the Lenten Mission Drive in the cafeteria. Besides the annual Halloween and Back- ward dances, and the Iunior-Senior Prom, this year's Student Council sponsored two addi- tional dances - the Mercian Mixer for the -3- school annual, and the Easter Dance, the pro- ceeds of which went to the missions. Other distinctive features of the S.C. on Channel MHS this year were a panel dis- cussion of foreign students, crowning of a queen at the Iunior-Senior Prom, and a rnusi- cal Christmas assembly. Since understudies are an important part of any program, the Student Council takes this opportunity to acknowledge the co-opera- tion of these alternates: Ron Bohn, Frank Gal- lagher, Don Clervi, Charles Franco, Dan How- ell, Ierry Kettler, Ioyce Purl, Doris Schoenoff, loe Suftko, Diane Vogan, Tony Cafazza, Tom Eckert, Pat Garrity, Carol Knight, Fran Kerr, Anna Kay Roberts, Al Scheltinga, Carol Ward, Rita Balkenbush, LaVerne Eckstein, Mike Kahle, Deanna Held, Dennis O'Hallaron, Au- drey Seiler, and loan Werner.
