'A H0US6 of Mercy'' by Lydia Harrison It’s all about a high school. One of which we know. That had a seed planted, And it began to grow. This seed it did establish, A grand foundation. That soon became a building, Of great admiration. It was Catherine McAuley, Of whom I will tell. Who started a House of Mercy, In Ireland it did dwell. She looked for places where She was needed, she took herself there. In order to provide of her services, To show that she did care. The work soon became an impact, A very heavy load. She needed other women. To help her down this road. And then she formed an organization. The Sisters of Mercy was its name. There place in the midst of Dublin, To America next it came. Some hundred years later. That same seed was branching out. But somehow, somewhere. It would have to sprout. Rev. Thomas E. Molloy, A most prominent man. Sought out to building a catholic high school. Yes, that was his plan. And so this seed was watered And it was nourishly fed, This seed began to sprout. And was built in Riverhead. It started with forty-seven students. And 5 (five) sisters was all. But the growth of this school, To be, would soon be very tall. — continued —

Then tragedy struck. Rev. Molloy, Had died one day. We were left with no financial support, Of a school we had to pay. What should we do? For we Had just begun Should we stay and fight? Or should we just go and run? We made our final decision That we would stay. And borrow the money we needed. So that we could pay. There were many setbacks, many delays. And every person had his role To take part As they dug that huge hole. And this is how it all began Twenty-five years ago. When the seed of Mercy High School Was planted and began to grow. A place for education At its very best. The faculty and students. They make up the rest. The soil has been good hence-forth. And has brought forth bearing good fruit. Which has made Mercy High School A wonderful learning institute. And so as I end my song just bear in mind. That like the seeds that are planted. We are one of a kind. And may Cod Bless Mercy High School On the 25th of its birth, In which this very school was Started from th.e soil of the earth.
