5961 V ‘YOWpftflrrft TQQhDS MOM XTtti a n 0 0 1 'a 3 5 J rt DpJjtetiiLoMj Two persons have been with Mercy since her beginning, have seen her through her difficult growing years, and are now beginning to enjoy the fruits of their labors. We, the Sen- iors, gratefully dedicate Misericordia 1965 to these pioneers: Sister Mary Liguori and Sister Mary Hugh. Sister Mary I.iguori is a teacher’s teacher — she has the ability to im- part her love of science to all her students: the ability to replace indif- ference with enthusiasm. But more than this, we think of Sister as one who is always willing to go just a little farther, do just a little extra for her students. When we are troubled, the library is the place to go, for Sis- ter Mary Hugh always finds time to listen, sympathize, advise: when we are happy. Sister shares our happiness. She has made the library a place apart from the happy, hectic halls of Mercy — a place for reading, relaxation, re- flection. Sister considers each book in her realm a friend, arid has always encouraged us to make friends of her friends. Both Sister Mary Liguori and Sister Mary Hugh radiate a love of life and a wonder at God’s world that should be an inspira- tion to us as we continue life’s voyage. 3 We £ E5 tU stoty 4 Mf£ERJOORD(A 1965 Chester Yousik Stella lannone Richard O'Brien Fred Bender EDITOR Chester Yousik ASSISTANT EDITOR Stella lannone PHOTOGRAPHY Richard O'Brien John Raynor John Dermody ART EDITOR Ered Bender COPY EDITOR Geraldine Ragamata CLASSES Patricia Pion Helen Tracy Barbara Barbeire ACTIVITIES Patrick Leanza Patricia Doris Alice Slavonik Marion Miloski Barbara Holden Barbara Gabor Katherine Demkin SPORTS James Carr Lawrence Chadwick Thomas Farrell William Mullane Neil LeRoux HIGHLIGHTS Sandra Dombroski Christopher Begg Helen Kelly Juliana Wilson BUSINESS MANAGER Stanley McCormick TYPISTS Diane Zaborowski Mary Ellen Reichert Diane Scriina Teresa Cappazola Carol Schubert Judy Mezzapelle Sharon Kuletsky This page sponsored by Barbeire Trucking 10 Wheeler Dump Trucks —3 yd. The virtues we form will be, to a large extent, our only constant influence. The character we mold will be the consummate result of these. Our goal, eternal happiness, is clear. We must choose our path with faith and hope, avoiding the pit- falls, which seek to engage us on our way. The cross and spire which adorn our school could represent this path. Its base might symbolize the world with its many attractions and interests. Proceeding to the top, the path is narrowed —now only those perma- nent virtues, the forces upon which we must rely. Then the top, the end of the path, the presence of God. As we graduate from Mercy the directing influences we have experienced are invaluable. The education and wisdom we have gained here will affect the direction of our lives. May they assume a position of predomi- nance in guiding us to our goal. From occupation of just the second floor with a book room for a library and a classroom for a cafeteria, we have witnessed the expansion through the entire building as well as a host of “Mercy firsts”-the dedication, the first game, the first assembly, the first “convention.” In view of our unique position as the first class to spend four years in THIS Mercy High Sch ool, we include a pictorial history of the class, on these pages, and on pages 158 and 159.
