'porteUMVltt Each day we live is a unit in itself. However unimportant or uneventful it may seem, it is a unit either strengthening or weakening our character. It is therefore essential that we include God in our daily lives and hind to ourselves the many virtues He exemplified during the years He spent among men. His charitable and perfect life is an example to us. the sheep of His fold, to practice virtue; His passion and death should inspire us to bear with the little hardships of life; His resurrection and ascension should remind us not only of our goal hut also of the importance of leading a virtuous life in order that we might attain that goal. With these thoughts l efore us, the Christian way of life unfolds and serves as a guide to future actions. Setting forth on our chosen path, we must always hear in mind that the Eternal Being is constantly with us. Invoking His help in our daily lives is a powerful aid to future success and happiness. As our Creator, He knows our tendencies and our failings; as our Father He gives us sustenance. His life- giving grace. This is ours for the asking, and in our quest for happiness is the gold pavement of the road leading to the Beatific Vision. 5 . ; v. _ Vv ■;,V? , ' - y - - •.. 4 • irw . . WASHINGTON TRIP We have all heard about the time the British laid seige to Washington and almost destroyed the city. Less famous, but equally disasterous to the Capital, was the attack made by the class of 62 as they in- vaded Washington for a three day weekend. The seige was brutal in that no monument, no tourist at- traction, no Hot Shoppe escaped their notice. The invaders masterminded the attack from the beautiful Shoreham Hotel. The city craftily planned its defense on wearing us out. They were fighting a losing battle though, as their antagonists seemed to gain steam as they went from breathtaking scene to breathtaking scene. Finally, the city launched its secret weapon. The 898 steps of the Washington Monument were enough to send the heartiest into hasty retreat, bear- ing fond memories of the city that captured our hearts. 95 Steady, Imelda! Be- cause of us the world may cease to exist, for we are the future. This is the eminent challenge that faces each one of us. The course which we fol- low may well determine the destiny of all mankind. It is our challenge, and we face it alone. Found within the strong walls of our school is the latent power that will help face that challenge. Used wisely it can save the world: used unwisely it can destroy it. We must face this chal- lenge with wisdom and understanding. But above all else we must face it with courage, never denying right even though threatened with destruction. The choice is ours. Destiny is ours. We are the dam which must repel the tide of evil that would seek to destroy all we hold dear. Yet we must always remember that our Father will not for- sake us. With Him we can succeed. Because of Him we will succeed. For Him we must succeed. ‘poteatcal Thinkers all . . . at least Jimmy Lynch gives that appearance.
