Thus spoke Pope Paul III while reading a summary of the Iesuit Rule: and it may well be that history is repeating itself once more. The Evangelist has said that the Spirit breathes Where It Will. Uohn 3, 8.5 And Mercy stu- dents and friends ponder over these words as, day after day, in classroom and lecture hall, they listen to words of WISDOM and COUNSEL from the lips of teach- ers trained in the Saint Xavier Plan of Liberal Education. Therefore, We dedicate our MERCIA to her Whom God in His Providence has chosen to guide His Sisters of Mercy in the erection ot a NEW and MORE GLORIOUS SAINT XAVIER COLLEGE ll ST. AMBROSE. 'lwaukee She con- in recognition oi her zealous service to God as a religious Mother Mary Regina received her undergraduate education at Saint Clare College of Mi . tinued with graduate work at Marquette University, from which she received the Master of Education degree in 48. For twenty-two years Mother Mary Regina taught in Saint Patricks School of Milwaukee. As teacher and rincipal of this school she exemplified the all too irequently unsung heroines of Catholic education, the faith- and talented nuns who with little acclaim selflessly and devotedly form the Catholic mind in America. Though honored by God, they are seldom honored in this world. ln l948 Mother Mary Regina was called to administrative duties with the Council of the Chicago Province the Sisters of Mercy. Here she continued her interest and work in education by serving as the School Con- sultant for the Council. For the past four years she has held the post of Mother Provincial, exercising ultimate direction over the manifold activities, both educational and hospital, of the Sisters of Mercy in this area. Saint Ambrose College, with its Nursing Division under the direction of the Sisters of Mercy, has upon many occasions been made directly aware of the abilities and zeal of Mother Mary Regina in the field of nursing education. The nursing graduates here today are eloquent testimony of the fruitfulness of her labors. Saint Am- brose College, consequently, wishes to honor Mother Mary Regina and with her all her faithful and devoted Sisters of Mercy, by granting to her' the degree of Doctor oi Laws, admitting her to all the rights, privileges, honors, and marks of distinction thereto pertaining here or elsewhere. Given at Davenport in the State of lowa in the United States of America on this first day of june in the year oi our Lord, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty-eight. Most Reverend Ralph L. Others are not so familiar. And then, there are the many clubs and activities in which you may have taken part. All this sums up to a personally successful school vear. The thing which is not so obvious, but oh-so-important. was the RESPECT CAMPAIGN which was sponsored by the Student Council to encourage students to be more observant of that queenly virtue. It tied in very nicely with our theme-the GIFTS of the HOLY GHOST, since, as Saint Paul so aptly says, each one of us is a temple of the Holy Ghost. This Catholic doctrine of the MYS- TICAL BODY should be the basis of all our regard for others, and should remind each and every one of us to be charitable, kind, and cour- teous to Clergy and Officials, Parents and Teachers, Friends and Classmates, and thus ultimately, reverent to Him Who dwells in us all.
