MERCY HOSPITAL SCHOOL OF NURSING BECOMES MERCY COLLEGE OF NURSING As a bride transforms her life with the changing of her name to her husband ' s name; so also did this school transform itself. In 1932, Mercy Hospital School of Nursing became Mercy College of Nursing. The nurse who previously spent long hours staffing the hospital and complying to stringent rules, now took on a new outlook. She devoted more time to the why ' s of nursing through formal education in the college. Her technical skills, vital as they were, were now backed with meaningful knowledge of their purpose. 44
