The play begins in lhe home ol a Persian by lhe name ol Arlaban, who believes lhal lhe brighl new slar in lhe heavens heralds lhe birlh ol lhe Saviour.'He sells all his possessions lo buy rare iewels as gills lor lhe Divine King. bul cannol persuade his friends lo ga wilh him. As Arlaban rides swillly lhrough lhe deserl lo meel lhe olher Magi, he slaps long enough lo aid a poor old man. The Persian generously beslows one ol his iewels upon lhe needy man, and hurries on lo his meeling-place, only lo lind lhal lhe lhree Wise Men have gone on lheir way lo Belhlehem wilhoul him. By lhe lime lhal Arlaban ar- rives in David's cily, lhe Holy Family has lled lo Egypl. For lhirly-lhree years lhe Persian searches lor lhe Saviour. His iewels are given lo help olhers, and aller many wanderings, he relurns lo Jerusalem only lo hear ol lhe Crucilixion. The Olher Wise Man had apparenlly mel wilh linal lailure. As Arlaban lies near dealh, however. lhe voice ol an angel is heard repealing lhe promises ol Jesus lo lhose who help lheir fellow men. The soul ol lhe lourlh Wise Man linds his God as lhe angel says. Inasmuch as ye have done il unlo one ol lhe leasl ol lhese my brelhren. ye have done il unlo me.
