As soon as The conTracTs wiTh The phoTographers and pub- lishers were signed in The Tall, Mr. Hilman H, Harker, TaculTy business adviser oT The Record, selecTed his sTaTT and gave The oTTice ol busi- ness manager To Valery Barlow. The various homerooms were canvassed Tor subscripTions, and adverTising space was sold To local merchanTs and business Tirms. However, as almosT any member oT The Record sTaTT knows, There was a greaT deal more Than rouTine work ThaT wenT inTo The producTion oT The yearbook. There were individuals and groups who did noT like Their picTures and demanded re-Takes, There were The camera-shy souls who had To be hounded inTo going To The pho- Tographers, and There were sTudenTs who Tried To geT inTo picTures where They did noT belong. The sTaTT came To know and love Those people who handed in neaTly-Typed, carefully wriTTen copy aT leasT a week beTore The deadline: They also came To know Those who handed in a penciled scrap of paper days aTTer The deadline had been passed. There were agonizing weeks when The sTaTT phoTographers, Richard Bauer and James Gandy. could Tind no Tilm and no Tlash bulbs To buy. There was The unhappy momenT when a Tlash bulb exploded and denTed a new camera.
