Francis. 7-2:3 hut had dropped the other two to Wood- herry' lforest 6-l. and Baltimore City College Hb. 5--1-. Meanwhile the hasehall team lost their hrst game to St. lfrancis 6-tt. hut made up for it hy' winning the next contest from Baltimore City tlollege 5-I in hack of the superh pitching of Big Bill Ward. Then Nlercershurg tied Saxton- l.iherty HS. 5-5. to hring the win-tie total to four against one loss. At l'hiladelphia. on April 25. li. Garcia. Boss. Schulz. and Hyland copped the American Prep- School quarter-mile relay' championship in the l'enn Belays with a time of -1-1.6. The tennis team hounced hack on the win list with a 6-3 triumph Plehes B-l. It seemed the Navy' hrst classmen hoasted good athletes in the track field also. for the Plehes overpowered the Mercershurg tracksters 89-28 at Annapolis. Altoona was the next victim of the hasehall team. losing hy a score of 6-l. However a great Baltimore Poly Team defeated the Academy' Ut-I. ln the next games Merccrshurg played a good hrand of I-all against Nlassanutten to win 3-2. hut were toppled hy' the Navy Plehes 7-l. St. Francis was walloped in two sports hy' Nlercers- hurg in hasehall lil-5. and in tennis 7-2. llale Junta was the only undefeated player during the racket season. The JX. tennis team won hoth of its ofhcial contests. defeating St. James and St. Francis hy scores of 7-2 and 7-2. The drive-and-putt aggregation tithe GOLF team! dropped one of their matches lol: mer the Baltimore l'olytechnic Institute. hut to 1013.
