Break A Leg, Not A Neck Not many people would have felt guilty about breaking the character Kathar- ina's neck, and throughout history, many have probably thought seriously about it. Nearly two weeks before the perfor- mance, Shannon Aldridge was in an automobile accident that caused her to injure her neck sevcrly. Katharina isn’t the quiet kind of character, so playing the ever-moving mischievous shrew seemed out of the question. Rumors be- gan to circulate about finding a re- placement or closing the show, but Shannon managed to recover in time. By the time October 24th rolled around, Katharina was throwing lan- «ums without anyone suspecting;that a cck earlier. Shannon was wearing a neck brace. [ Shrew News • Shrew News | Mingling With The Stars After plays at Mercer (and other plays and other places), it is customary to go backstage to congratulate the actors and actresses. It gives the common folks a chance to mingle with the stars. For Shrew, the performers made a grand entrance in song and dance, and proceeded to mingle with the crowd. And at the end of the performance, the musicians began to play and the stars grabbed audience members to partici- pate in the dances of the period.

This “off-Broadway” (way off) show took to the road to go to high schools across Georgia to bring The Taming of the Shrew to life. It wasn’t the easiest thing this talented crew did all year, but the response was worth it. Another fine job. Mercer Players!
