MARY ELLEN RUSSELL There are many tragedies that occur along the road of life and this past year, one who was loved by all who knew her was the victim of a horrible accident. Even though she is gone, her memory will linger for years to come. Her bubbling personality, winning smile, and charming greeting made everyone feel at home when in her presence. Above all, my dearest friend Ellen was a living witness for the Saviour she loved and served. Had she been here today, she would tell you of her purpose in life, just as Henrietta Heron relates in her poem! 4'lVIy Pur- pose . As one reads the lines, the picture of Ellen comes to mind. Truly, the eaith was graced by her presence for those twenty wonderful years. My Purpose To be a little kindlier With the passing of each day, To leave but happy memories As l go along my wayg To use possessions that are mine In service full and free, To sacrifice the trivial things For larger good to beg To give of love in lavish way That friendship true may live, To be less quick to criticize, More ready to forgiveg To use such talents-as I have That happiness may growg To take the bitter with the sweet, Assured 'tis better sog To be quite free from self-intent W'hate'er the task I dog To help the world's faith stronger grow, In all that's good and true, To keep my faith in Cod and right No matter how things rung To work and play and pray and trust Until the joumey's done.
