Of the organization s many activities, the major project is the annual Bear Day Parade and Homecoming Weekend, the high point of the school year In addition to its usual accomplishments, the 1954-55 Association reached a goal for which conscientious Mercer students had vainly worked in past years. Immediately after taking office in the spring of 1954, the Association propoced an honor system which was adopted by the student body. Its success has been outstanding and it is a source of pride for every Mercer student. 20

Arrival In the Dorm Freshmen and transfers arrived at Mercer to be greeted by big sisters and big brothers, upper- classmen who returned to school early to help the new Mt-rtcrians learn their way around campus, to explain dormitory rules, and make the first few days easier in every way There were faculty mem- bers who introduced them to the history, ideals, and purposes of the University—parties and recep- tions which introduced them to each other By registration day, the nesv students were already a part of Mercer.
