R O, T C The R. O. T. C. unit became active at Mercer in the fall of 1947. k has one battery of artillery composed of two platoons. The unit is under tile direction of Col. folio Meade and Major Malcolm Johnson. Officers of the unit arc: Captain Richard I . Dismuke, I irvt Lieut. Liven 11. Smith. Second Lieut. John I . Micks, and Second Lieut. Billy M. Anderson. The purpose of the unit is to train reserve officers for the United States Army; upon graduation from Mercer the hoys successfully completing the course will received .1 reserve commission in the Lie Id Artillery.
