He must see that the freshman be- comes accustomed to his new surroundings and does Ids work well. He also has to keep up with the senior and his desired degrees. The students who fall down in their work must be helped and those who desire to change their courses and subjects must confer with the Dean Dean Clark is a ‘big game hunter. He is very dignified, but hates snobbishness. He is a swell fellow out of school and away from his wife. . . . Fiilliiunl In m Mir m III LAW Tins scholarly acting Dean of the law school is a lover of beauty; (he has hung many pictures in the law school.) He has recorded in verse what made the Ultimate Prof go Round.'1 Dean Feild enjoys the rep of being the most outstanding bull shoot- er” on the campus. Dr. Sprighl Dowelf, A.B., W.A . LL,D Urn1 is Hu' m 4- In 1928 Dr. Dowell was chosen president of the University and he assumed office in July of that year. Since that time. Mercer has come a long way. From 1928 until 1933 only one building of importance was erected on the campus. This was the law building. Since that date, however, under the able direction of Dr. Dowell. Sherwood Hall has been rebuilt from within, the library building was rebuilt, a new gymnasium was erected and the co-op was moved to the old gymnasium. More recent accomplishments include the reconditioning of the Biology building, the erection of Columbus Roberts Hall, the reconditioning of the Chapel, and the building of the girls' dormitory. Mercer continues to march on

JOHN DAVIS BLAIR—BS. Major’s main trouble seems to be the aviation classes lie fears that aviation at Mercer will drive him “nuts The registrar is also an official for many football games, and in this capacity has suffered a broken arm and has been stepped on by an inconsiderate gridder. BUFORD BOONE A.B His regular business is newspaper work but he’s not so bad as a journalism teacher, MARTHA BROWN—The words that come most often from the treasurer are. We do not cash checks. T- A. BANCROFT—A B A.M. He could pass as a double for the movie star. Cliff Edwards. If you don’t have ingenuity, steer clear of his class. GAIL LUKE CARVER A.B.. A.M. His spiel on the harmful effects of alcohol has become almost us common in his class room as his talks on conservation.
