Community Singers The Community Singers is a group of students faculty staff and lj ., is ,. M fr', '1 '.,. Nt' community members who Join to gether to perform selected choral masterpieces. This group provides members of the non Mercer com munity the opportunity to partici pate in the choral activities of the College. The Singers performed three major concerts in 1982 83 In November, they presented a pro gram for the Southern Baptist Re gional Instrumental Workshop In December, they performed Bach s Magnificat. Beta Omicron, Mercer's chapter of Kappa Delta Epsilon, is a society for Education majors. Under the di- rection of faculty advisor Virginia Nelms, Beta Omicron strives to de- velop among its members teaching skills and ideals and actively en- courages constructive participation in solving the various problems re- lated to education. Members are also urged to join in professional community and campus service. The Pre-MedfPre-Dental Club of MUA is sponsored by Dr. Mi- chael Finnerty. Club activities af- ford members the opportunity to hear speakers and participate in ac- tivities related to their chosen pro- fessions. Some of the professional institutions represented by speakers during the year were Morehouse Medical School, the Center for Dis- ease Control, Medical College of Georgia, Mercer School of Pharma- cy, Mercer Medical School, and Emory Medical School. The MercerfAtlanta Concert Choir, directed by Michael G'Neal, is a select choral group that is open, by audition, to all Mercer students. ln the fall, the choir presented ma- jor programs for the International Students of Atlanta and the Georgia Baptist Convention. In December it participated in the annual singalong Messiah, In March of l983, dur- ing Spring Break, the choir went on its annual tour. Choir members traveled to Mobile, Alabama: Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans, Louisiana, and Houston, Texas.
